All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

Will it be easy to get that info from the school during that time? Scare alot of parents calling in last min to get latest info and phone lines all jam up or school too busy to entertain??
I think the schools are generally \"generous\" in providing such information to parents. It's a matter of degree.
Some schools will tell you they have received xx number of applications so far, without going into details. Other schools will even tell you how many applications are within 1 km, and whether you need to go through balloting. -

You will know whether balloting is required or not for the category you are in after the registration ends for that phase. However, you can call up the school to find out before registration ends.
Thanks alot qms.
because you are doing a 'risk management' here and also needing to do the cancellation at school-1, what others usually do is they station eg dad at school-1 to prepare to do cancellation and mum at school-2 to find out the latest information and do last min registration (probably in the last hour?). morning of last day of Phase 2C, you can first call the school to find out the stats first to see if the situation already need balloting. -
Thanks alot qms and jedamum!! Your sharing is very helpful, itβs much clearer to me now

hi, i'm a newbie!! So glad that i chance upon this website! A really great resource for parents with kids going to pri sch!
My boy will be in Pri 1 in 2012.
Aiming for HIPS. Any comments/ feedback on this school? Hard to get in?
Going to meet the VP on fri regarding PV.
Any ideas why the VP needs to interview the parents prior to PV? What can i expect?
Is there any difference in chances of getting into the school between someone who does PV but stay more than 1km and someone who does PV AND stay within 1km?
Thanks for taking time to read and reply my post!

If you do PV and complete your PV hours, you will qualify for Phase 2B already. Distance only factors in if there are more applicants than vacancies in Phase 2B, i.e., when balloting occurs. If balloting occurs, the person who has done PV and stays closer to the school will have a higher chance of getting in. -
Hi!
I have no idea about HIPS or the PV selection, and hence, can only answer one of your questions. Shall leave the other questions to other experts here.niki_tsh:
Definitely! If a school has to go through balloting in P2B, and balloting is for those staying within 1 km, then, the child staying beyond 1 km will not even get a chance to go through balloting. Is there any difference in chances of getting into the school between someone who does PV but stay more than 1km and someone who does PV AND stay within 1km?
If balloting is for those staying 1-2 km from the school, then the child staying within 1 km will be guaranteed a place in the school, while the other chidlren staying 1-2 km from the school need to go through balloting.
BTW, you haven't reported at the Newbie thread yet, right? Can you please report there? It's a SOP in KSP.com.
