All About Full-Time Maids
-
maids 10 years back were not as bad as now…but their attitudes still suck and their ‘here-to-enjoy-life’ mentality drove me nuts. now the agent fees are cut throat. getting a maid is to help out, but it’s definitely the reverse in most cases…not 帮忙,but 加忙。

I am once like that . U are not alone . Worry till the day I send my ex maid off . Actually , I went to look for new maid about 2 months before hand and the when the agency told me when I can get the maid then I send her off . I send off my ex maid in the afternoon and pick my new maid in the evening .panickymum:
[quote=\"liquidskye\"]i scared new maid cannot handle my kids... sighs... actually... this maid v gd with my kids, she cares for them. just damn attitude. grrr...
noob qtn, if i cancel her WP on 1 Dec and send her back. whens the earliest i can get a new maid? cos new maids need to wait for 4-6 wks depending on availabiity? v scared of getting maids that are worst off then the current ones. hai. sometimes i tink i worry too much
Whether can get good maid really hard to say . It depends on luck .
I personally prefer new maid . Generally 乖.compare to transfer maid unless you got good recommendation from friend -
With new maids, you have about 8 months of her being 乖…if lucky.
With transfer maids, they could be stubborn and/or choosing employers for ‘easy’ job.
With maids, it’s all about luck. Treat them well, you hope they reciprocate and work well, but some take for granted.
Treat them firm, they vent frustration on kids or add something to the food. i know of someone who doesn’t take house keys…when kids or employer returns, they will press door bell and if she doesn’t open, press again. -

Don't know what happened in the end. -
In those days…maid had to pay their own ticket if they don’t want to work. They will do their best to please the employer because they want to keep their job.
New maids are already taught to just ask for transfer if they are not happy. They will just annoy you, break your things, show black face until you send them back to agency…or just run away…
They feel they have the right to lie to us and use us to get into Singapore and then just choose employer from here. -

in those days, maids were not given so much liberty to choose employers...now the law is on their side. even if they decide to go home, employers have to pay air ticket.
I had to keep my corelle bowls/plates when I had maids...at the rate they vent frustrations, no amount of money can replace chipped items.
my tolerance level then was very high because I didn't want to be affected by the maid. when black face method doesn't work, they resort to other methods  -
I was reading about the situation in Taiwan.
Do you know that in Taiwan: if a maid gives problem (eg rude, breaks stuff etc) the employer may give her a written warning. After 3 such warnings, the employer may bring the case up to the authorities (can't remember the name) in order to terminate her employment and send her home. Maid has to go home. No transfer.
........................ then they come here as experienced maid

my friend told me no such thing as transfer in hong kong...screw up and off they go. our MOM protects maids more than their own citizens...what a joke.I was reading about the situation in Taiwan.

I agreed that they are employer that abuse maid but so far in Singapore not really that many. Somemore they will get heavy punishment by SIN law. If maid hurt or kill employer, they will sentence them as mental stress and just give the maid with light sentence. So if employer with such poor quailty maid, keep yelling to transfer, do all sort of funny things....etc....won't the employer have mental stress too. Employer still need to handle kids, elderly, maid and work so employer is even more mental stress than the maid. Whose going to help employer............
i even heard of an employer who was so pissed off with her maid that she bought a ferry ticket and sent maid off to batam...let her figure her own way home.
training a maid is a torture...literally hold her hands and teach her to do work. after 7 months or so when the maid is independent to be able to cook and do housework, they think their 'wings' are strong enough to fly
some employers are way too much in the way they abuse...why land in the newspapers for the wrong reason? when the maids add soap powder or something disgusting in the food, they are let off...if they kill the employer, their countries will argue maids are emotionally distressed and escape gallows with diminished responsibility.
