      htn:

      Hi, please help.

I _____ my ex-classmate whom I have not met for many years.

      a) ran into b) ran across

May I know what is the answer? And why?

      TIA

      The answer is (a).

The school teacher has advised the pupils to use \"ran across\" if both \"ran into\" and \"ran across\" are the options provided. Does anyone know the reasons for doing so?

Both are fine. 'Unless' has the meaning of 'if...not'.

                  Run.

Past participle of 'run' is 'run': run(infinitive) ran (past tense) run (p.p.)
