Actually when is the best time to go for long holidays after PSLE? about 2-3 weeks? school allow PONTENG??
I don't think the school will mind as long as they are informed. But your child may want to spend the last few weeks with friends. -
my son pong teng right after the last paper.
slept till 8, brunch and then eat when he felt like. play. -
My ds is asking to bring monopoly to school. Teachers said no electronic gadgets allowed which is good otherwise the kids are addicted to gaming. He got back his smartphone but I am trying to limit him to 2 hours per day and night time, the phone has to be surrender to my room. I told him if I don’t do that, he will have addiction and "withdrawal" symptons when he starts Sec 1. He can spend the time watching tv programmes or reading.
Based on last year dd1’s experience, they went to the beach to do clean up, organised jumble sale (which ds spoke about during PSLE oral), school also had those external vendors (from chinese cultural perspective) to teach them different arts and craft. And yes, he will be going back to his CCA regularly to practise for year end alumni concert. -

Now that PSLE over, P6 parents can shake leg, bring kids out for holiday.
Even if P6 kids go back school, nothing much to do in school -

True, even the PSLE is over, shouldn't allow the children to play too much of handphone games. It will become an addition like drugs, difficult to shake them off. Till now, I still do not agree to let my DD to download any games in her phone. Told her she can go skating, swimming, shopping, movies, even surfing the net ... anything but no downloading of games. You are probably being stricter than most parents, but it's your decision. Another method would be to allow the downloading of certain games, or a limited no. of games, but control the time duration and place where she is allowed to play them. This way, she can learn better self-control than having a complete ban. Since she has access to a computer, I don't think she is being deprived. And yes, they are addictive, so it's better to control the use before addiction sets in.
Both my girls (15 and 17yo) don't have games on the phones - one because she isn't interested, and the other because she says games drain the battery too fast. I didn't ask them not to have games, but would have limited the time and place if they had them. I also disallow checking whatsapp etc too often or for too long. -

Not too strict la. Very reasonable boundary.
My dd is allowed one hour of tv after exam. She's following ch8 9pm show. Special concession as she usually doesn't watch tv at all
No electronic devices allowed at home at all times. Cannot use laptop to surf. Cannot use smart phone at home. Her whatapps messages are sent to my phone
but no restriction once we are outside the house, she can use iphone to read jokes or play games.
The first thing she did after exam is to 冲 to library. Already finished those 4 story books she borrowed on Wed. Need go library again. -
Kids can do something they have always wanted to…take up hobbies, swim or anything…clear up their rooms including their wardrobes.
Help out with housework. Don’t lose touch with reading. -
DD psle over... V bored... Always complain nothing to do... Suddenly too free... :siao:
