Hello all… just wondering anyone can give input for the recent quality of Maris Stella Kindergarten? Coz i’ve been hearing mixed review about this school.

I just called them to check if they have spot available for next year N1 and arrange school visit if they do. Im not too sure if the lady who picked up the phone was really in a bad mood or that’s her usual self. She said… "YA" I said hello, is this Maris Stella Kindergarten? "YA" May I know if u have available space for N1 student next year? "HMM… afternoon session only" and so on… it was just hmm and ya.
I was a bit shock to hear this kind of rude manner, and hoping she’s not one of the teacher there.

Hello listz21, I have the same feeling as you when I called up to inquire N2 level sometime ago, most likely we spoke to the same lady?? I personally find the admin a bit unwelcoming but this could be her usual self and not to be taken as a representation of the general quality of the school.

I visited the school (lots of nature and greenery, a playground and all classrooms are non-aircon) and spoke to principal, who sounded pretty relaxed. From what I gathered, they are not very academically-driven. She believes in giving children a happy childhood and holistic outcome.
I did not enroll my child in this kindy, due to logistic issue and I worry the academic is not strong enough to prepare for p1.

Hi, I am new here. My daughter is starting N1 in 2015. She is my first baby and I don’t know what I have to prepare for her on the first day of school. Anyone who can brief me what to expect and pack for my daughter on the first day of school at Maris Stella Kindergarten please. Thank you very much!

Just to share. I thought N2 was relaxed (but not slack) and was wondering if I should be concerned about P1 preparedness, but one day my child could read both English and Chinese readers. And after 1 week of K1, there's self motivated writing practice of the entire alphabet, spelling and writing of numbers, writing of Chinese numbers and simple characters! :rahrah: Emphasis may be holistic, but I guess it's not all play.

The tone for K1 is more serious than N1 or N2, which I appreciate as it will probably prepare the children better for P1.

As for frontline reception, I personally feel it's not representative of the school and maybe not even of the person you spoke to.

I am sure all the parents survived first day. Not much to prepare for except to let go of our little babies for a little while. Hope all the children have a good year!

              Hi all parents,

I just went to visit the kindergarten today. I quite like the enviroment. Big spacious and lots of space for the kids. School is not super new but acceptable to me.

Just that the admin person that brought us around does not seem to be able to answer much on curriculum.

I saw on website that there are enrichment classes offered for the kids. are these still on? For those parents attending, do you think these help your child?

I just felt that the fees are on the high side compare to the few kindergartens that i viewed. So wondering why… could it be due to the enrichment classes?

Does anyone have comments about Maris Stella Kindergarten? My older 2 children used to attend this school previously, before Mrs Koh takes over. They had a good time and are also doing well down. But not sure how’s the school now. Thinking if u should send my youngest there or switch to Marymount. Any comments pl? Thanks!

It’s definitely a more holistic experience, in short, good for well off parents or those who aren’t too concerned with academics! If your child thrives in that sort of environment they will do very well there.

Have friends who taught there, from what I heard it’s very different from your usual PAP kindergartens, they have a very huge campus, almost like an international school. If you’re Catholic you will definitely appreciate it. Never heard any complaints about academics though.

My kids went there! Beautiful school with very caring teachers, some of the sisters teach there as well. There’s even a mini zoo there with lots of parrots, fish and rabbits! My kids really enjoyed going to school there, and they definitely made many good memories there that we still talk about.
