I thought RAD stick strictly to birth year. My gal started learning at 3 plus and due to my schedule she actually joined the 4 yo class. Only problem came last yr at 5 when the classmates who r one yr older could take d pri exam whereas my gal who is taking lessons with them could not and the musoc and co only let students start exam from pri level. This yr we change school and she has to retake her pri class again...if only i did not start her so early.

Yes, you are right! RAD stick closely to birth year, hence as my DD could not take her Grade 1 exam when she is in Primary 1. RAD age requirements is minimum 7 years old as at 1 January of the year you are taking Grade 1 to 5. So when she is Primary 2, she can take her Grade 2 as minimum age requirements (still 7) is fulfilled. Ballet is like piano, you do not need to take exams at every grades as long as the ballet teacher assess you are ready for the exam of the particular grade.

DD starts learning at 4 years old, took her pre-primary when she is in K1, and primary when she is in K2. The minimum age requirements is a new criteria imposed by RAD in 2013, hence affecting her being unable to take Grade 1 in Primary 1. Hope it clarifies.

My DD’s ballet teacher told them that they cannot sit down and wear their shoes. They can only stand or kneel to wear the shoes. Have anyone heard of this?

Change from ballet shoes to character shoes. For grade 1 onwards.

Yes, cos the posture when the girls sit and change shoes are not very elegant 🙂

Hi all! If there anyone’s kids who are in Dancepointe and currently in Junior Apprentice? As my DD is currently in Dancepointe and her teacher encourage me to let my DD join that program. Just wondering how is it like?
