Minnie, but it’s possible because you have 2 children/elderly + children? Right now, we only have a toddler at home so MOM may not allow us 2 maids at any one time.

Yep, MOM has a one-to-one \"policy\" i.e., eligible for one maid for each child/elderly in the house.

Can also claim that your house is very large (have to be correct lah), and that you entertain a lot and therefore need the help. A friend of mine has 4 kids (last 2 are twins) in a huge house. So they managed to get THREE maids.

Yes we do have 2 kids at home. But I think MOM allows 2 weeks of grace period for transition. Once the employment pass for the new maid is issued, the EP for the old one will expire after 2 weeks. So in theory, you can keep 2 maids at the same time for a max 2 weeks.

Thanks, minnie. Yes my agency confirmed it too.

Now do you think it’s advisable to do so? Will my current maid badmouth us? Going to choose a different nationality though.

I don't really think that they'll accept the big house theory because singles (esp men) living in a huge house, cannot apply for maids at all. Your friend can apply for up 4 maids, 1 for each child. And if they have elderly living with them, they can add more accordingly.

I had 2 maids for few months during the 'handover' period. This really saves a lot on teaching the new maid. Whether or not the current one will influence the new one, it's really up to the individual.

I had 1st maid (very good maid) handover to 2nd maid, 2nd maid learnt nothing during the 3 months (no heart to learn). 2nd maid handover to 3rd maid, 2 weeks only, and she picked up most of the important stuffs. 3rd is hardworking like 1st.

Careful of bullying though. 2nd one bullied 3rd so much that she cried all the time and 2nd on tried to fuel fire by saying 3rd maid is mental, don't know will kill herself not! Made me so scared and worried. Had to call agent and all. I had to counsel her too. Only after 2nd left, 3rd maid confessed the bullying.

Hi everyone! Actually right now I just transferred my maid and had to pay 21 days levy according to MOM. In the meantime,I have a new maid working for me without thumbprint yet because the transferred maid has not found a new employer. I will still need to pay the 21 days levy max unless she can find a new employer within 2 weeks. So whatever it is, employer still pay and pay and pay.

Can’t you op to send her back instead of getting a transfer? Could she be buying time at your expense while waiting for her Singpass and rejecting potential employers?

That's hard to tell. It depends on your relationship with the current maid. If she's not leaving on good terms, then better not do it. On the other hand, if they're of different nationality maybe they won't chit chat that much. Also try to limit the overlapping time and ask the old maid to teach the new one major chores as quickly as possible.

                        blurqueen,

Singpass is the password for CPF, I think you mean S-pass holder. No she’s not qualified to be an S-pass holder. She doesn’t have a degree. According to MOM, think employers must pay for the 21 days levy for her to get new employer. Even agents tell me now MOM protect the maids and give the maid alot of information. Even the agent themselves don’t like it also no choice.

Have you guys sent out the feedback to MOM like what Tamarind say? I have been so busy these few days that I haven’t got down to it. Will be sending my feedback later.
