I see, mine originally is at Moris Allen @ Bukit Panjang, but find that their teaching syllabus not really towards MOE guide.. Also never focus much on Oral... Definitely, my girl can speak better English rather than singlish now....but as their teachers are from Australia, hence speaking accent is quite different from British...example \"Today\", they spoke as \"To Die\" :rotflmao: my girls always laugh whenever she hears that...mashy:

Mine is in Toa Payoh branch for 2.5 years and we are discontinuing it next year. I find that it's good as long as u get good teachers. For 1 year, my son had a very good teacher. Sadly, she left the country to get married. In comes an ang moh teacher who couldn't care less. For the last 1.5 years, it's really waste money. He no longer participates in class and doesn't show any interest in the work. As for the curriculum, they went through various topics over the years, all related to works of famous authors.
Hope that British Council @ Marsiling Branch helps her better

They don’t follow MOE syllabus? But I check out and the comments is they follows. As for Oral, I saw from their teaching list is part of it. Hmmm, I had already enrolled her and probably after Term 1, I will see some results. Hope for the best.

Nope. What oral? Luckily u only enroll for 1 term so u can still see if it meets your requirements. -

How do you encourage your kids to write? My DD reads but does not like to write.
Tried asking her to write abt favourite topics or draw sthg she likes to accompany her writing. Also not very effective. :sad:

- if DC doesn't like to read or is not exposed to lots of books, then might not like to write as well...so perhaps can focus on developing love for reading rather than writing first
- I notice some DCs are very motivated to do well overall - so explaining that not being able to write well is going to significantly bring down total Eng marks might be an eye opener to practise writing and not allow compo marks to cause a drop in overall marks
- there are a few good model compo books around. Sitting down and working through these with DC might be of help
-Language development needs time and a relaxed mind. So I find that it is hard to learn creative writing during crazy schedule of term time. Best time is June and Dec hols
- Use a multipronged approach - just focusing on one method (e.g. practising compo writing only) might not help
