Hi all
:lovesite:
I was wondering if let's say I get to use my parent's address in Phase 2C (1-2km) and then there's a balloting within 1 km, would the school inform us early on before the phase ends so that we can quickly register to another school?
Coz I called one school and they told me that if they forsee by the second day there's balloting, they will inform me to withdraw so that I can apply to another school. Does it work like that generally? :? -
most schools will update the number of people registered regularly on some noticeboard(s) at the registeration office.
instead of depending on the school to call you; or you to call the school and depend on the kindness of the office staff who answered your call to go to the registration office to check the status … BEST is that you pop down after lunch on the last day to check the status and decide whether to continue or to withdraw & register at the other school.
in the past, some parents practised stationing a spouse at each school to monitor the situation, then at the very last hour (or should I say minutes), decide whether to switch or to stay. -
:thankyou:
Thanks for moving the topic to this site; was just figuring out how to move it when I saw it was already moved. Very efficient.
Thanks, will do that, though I dont think my spouse would want to be stationed :politebleah: -

What a fabulous idea, never thought of that! Now to convince my hubby... -
on second thought, this method may not work as don't we need both parents NRIC for registrations? :?

you don't need both parents' IC to do withdrawal. so parents can register in their preferred school first, then on the last day last min, station one parent each at the registered school and the 2nd choice school to do withdrawal and registration. -
Yes this way is the best…
My sis did tat for her boy’s registeration too.
Super stressed out!

Statutory declarations are required for parents who wish to register their child using the address of the child’s grandparent or parent’s sibling in a school within 2 kilometres from that address. The eligibility criteria (s) are as follows:
Both parents are working full-time at the time the statutory declaration was made; and The child is under the full time care of a grandparent or parent’s sibling; and The child’s grandparent or parent’s sibling is not employed.
I am furious about the above requirement and wonder what is the rationale for both parents must be working. My wife resigned last year to take care of my new born kid and because of that, I am not eligible for SD although my elder son has been staying with my in-laws for the past 6 years. It’s really ridiculous and defeat for purpose of having a SD in the first place. I called MOE and was told that there is no avenue for redress, how disappointing - technicality rules and the blind follow the blind. -
Hi everyone, after reading all posts from this thread im still a blur daddy, sorry for that. ok I’d like to ask , i will be registrating my son under statuory declaration under my in laws address coz he is staying with them on weekdays and the school we r gonna register is within 1 to 2km from my in law’s home but if grandpa is working, grandma is not. R we still eligible? And if we r, can grandma go alone with us to make the declaration? Can anyone help pls? Many many thanks.
