      Thank you.

We are aware of the mission schools and SAP school but just wonder will we stand a chance if we were to apply MGS/NJC since their cut off point was higher (based on 2013). We also went for the open house in SCGS and St Nic today and were impressed by the culture and students of both school. Both principals also assure us on the Special Programmes that will be offered at the new JC and we are excited about it.
You can consider to use first choice even though COP is higher since you have 6 choices. No one knows what the actual COP will be until 19Dec. Last year, there were a lot of speculations that COP will drop (due to overall lower tscore) but in the end some schools dropped, some went up, some maintained - it depends on the pool of applicants each school gets. If it is few points difference, I personally think it is worth it to invest the first choice to try it out BUT you must be equally happy to get the next choice if COP didn't hit.

Between MGS and NJC, IB and A levels are rather different path. I think the choice is clear if you consider your preference.
St Nicks and SCGS are both excellent schools, understand your dilemma. My good friend was faced with the same issue last year 😄

      All the best !

Thanks. Have to discuss with DD on her preference. May I know at the end of the day, which school did your friend choose eventually? Is ok if it's not convient for you to disclose.

        Thank you.

          LifeIsGreatInSG:
          Dear Woodgrove and all,

My son scored 252+1, his dream school is RI and HCI but apparently his score is a bit low. We live at Choa Chu Kang.
Can you please advise what's the chance of getting into RVHS?
And how about below school compared with RVHS?
          1. Bukit Panjang Govt. High
          2. Nan Hua high School

Thanks a lot for your advice.
You can refer to this thread for past COP:
          http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... 48&t=78590

2013 RVHS COP was 251, so your son has a good chance to get in.

RVHS is 6 years SAP IP leading to A levels.
BPGH is 4 years non-SAP leading to O levels.
NHHS is 4 years SAP school leading to O levels.

Consider those factors and your son's strengths. All the best.

For 252+1, there are many options available if you are alright with independent schools (fees) : ACS O levels, SJI IP (IB)
          Or Catholic High IP (A)

1st choice : St Nic because they are Christian family.
            2nd choice : SCGS

Got into SCGS, still happy. Next year S2. 😄

Thank you for the reply. You are really helpful.
Do you know how is her DD coping? Is she happy and enjoying herself in SCGS? We are worried because of the primary school affiliation and afraid that DD might not be able to mingle in as most of the girls would have know. Each other beforehand.

You are welcome 😄 Your list of schools caught my eye 😉
IP track no affiliation, she is coping well and loving the school.

Thanks for replying. If my son gets the Ib diploma after 6years, can he apply for universities in usa or uk directly without taking other tests? Thanks.

IB is widely recognised overseas as well. You may want to read the following threads for more info:

It is offered in ACS(I) and SJI.

                      Thanks for the info.

quote :< I would like to have some advice and opinions from the experts here. Can someone help? My son scored 246 (+2). Staying in the central .

Most of the schools are not convenient and need at least an hr to travel. My choices are :
                        1) Catholic High (cop - 249) (son score : 246+2 = 248)
                        2) Victoria Sch (cop - 247)
                        3) Chung Cheng Main (241) (son score : 246 +2 = 248)
                        4)Nan Hua High (245) (son score : 245 +2 = 247)
                        5) St Joseph Inst (245)
                        6) Fairfield Sec (241)
All the above schs have affiliation JC except for Nan Hua High.
                        Is my choice ok?
                        Pls advice soon.>

Thks so much for all the feedback… appreciate lots!
May I ask between VS & Anderson Sec, which is a better choice? In terms of logistic wise, I think Anderson Sec is more convenient.
Hope to hear from you all soon!!
