Hi precious_angel,
If you are Catholic, you gal will be under phrase 2B and no ballot is required for almost all the IJ convents. -

Hi Mummies,
Anyone here going to register your gals in IJ TP this year ? -
Hi,
I’m new to the site & will register my daughter this year. The "Catholic" criteria is very interesting and very new to me. All along I thought I should stick to Kellock because its my old school.
However I live in Upper Bukit Timah, now I’m hoping to get her into St Nicks or TP under phase 2B, but someone said it doesn’t apply to these schools. Is that correct?
My daughter was baptised in Australia.
Which is the better school after St. Nicks?
Thanks,
Catharine -

Catholic means Universal, right? You said your daughter was baptised in Australia, and I am assuming it was a Catholic Church that you are talking about, right? I am also assuming that your daughter is a Singaporean.Hi,

That's said, if you are staying in Upper Bukit Timah, your chances of getting into St Nics or TP is quite slim considering their balloting history the last few years. Don't forget the PVs come under 2B too.
Ref your question which I highlighted in bold above. St Nics and TP are both Catholic Schools so you come under 2B for these two schools, so why do you say that it does not apply? :?
If you are applying for CHIK Kellock, your girl comes under 2A2 for kids or former students.
Hope the above helps. -

Both St Nick's and CHIJ TP are categorised as catholic schools, http://www.veritas.org.sg/catholic_directory_group_list.php?GroupType=School and if you are a Catholic, applications under Phase 2B would apply for these schools - http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/Hi,

What is required to prove that you are a Catholic, would be the baptism cert of either parent. The MOE site indicates it has to be the parent that has to be the Catholic, and does not indicate that it's the child's cert that is required. You may also want to contact the respective school to verify whether a letter from the pastor of the local Catholic church you are currently a parishioner of is also required, if the baptism certs are from overseas. -
Thanks for the quick response!
I’m in such a dilemma. We are renting in Upper Bukit Timah and lease expires end of May this year so we have to look for a new place.
If we aim for Kellock Convent surrounding area, the rent is quite high, so I have to look around. If I have to look around to rent, then I thought we could use the “Catholic” criteria & move to other IJ schools and register through phase 2B.
Or should I bite the bullet and pay more rent and live close to Kellock?
If TP & St. Nicks are hard to get in then which school is the next best one around?
Thanks,
Catharine -
Hi CatharineV,
As an old girl of IJ Kellock, you can register your daughter under Phase 2A2.
If register using your catholic faith, then you’ll fall under Phase 2B which is AFTER Phase 2A2 and open to more people like grassroot leaders, parent volunteers and religious groups. -
I am considering CHIJ Toa Payoh for my daughter next year, does anyone know if the children bring home lots of homework at P1 level?
What is the atmosphere like? I was from that school but things probably have changed. I have also been overseas for a while so have kind of lost touch with the schooling scene (although I hear CHIJ TP has a 'high’standard, I wonder if this passes onto the kids as the teachers being pushy?) -
Regarding my earlier post about atmosphere etc in IJ TP, I have managed to find the answers to my concerns in other threads when exploring the forum

Thanks everyone
