Comparing Science Enrichment Programs

Hello
Any good science tuition to recommend for p5 and p6? My children were prev with science alive. But results did not improve. Feel their ctr do experiments, increase childrens interest but no much drilling into proper answering of questions. A couple of times i asked for feedback then they give…ctr is quite chillax with the children…Of cos as my children are also the chillaxing type so need stricter teachers who can push them more.
TIA! -
Ping92, which area are you looking at ? I found one that my daughter enjoys and they have a fair mix of drilling plus experiments . The p6 class is full I heard but not sure abt the p5.

They tackle on open ended questions every week (I see some questions are related to the experiment they do that day and more questions on that topic).Hi SydneyBB
At Science Alive are they into experiments as well? My child is rather weak in Section B, does Science Alive tackle that area?
how much is the fees, class size btw?
thanks
Every week there is experiment except 1-2 weeks before exams where they focus on revisions and exam techniques.
I see that their experiments are quite interesting and relevant to my son's sch syllabus. My son gets to do the experiments himself, no need to share. Some of my friends told me that some centres only the teachers do the experiments and students look.
Class size quite small, my son's class has only 4 students. Ha! He can get full attention of the teacher as he is very talkative! -

So sorry, fellow parents, for not responding promptly! My DS is now in Sec 2 and I seldom check in this forum nowadays. I happened to log in today and have just replied to your PMs.
Noticed that many has seek this Holland tutor, can anyone kindly share any feedback? Expensive? 1-1 or class tutoring?BraisedPorkBelly:
anyone who has gotten the contact of the science tutor in Holland from Julia earlier on - can you please share it with me please? Kindly PM me. Thanks.
Please PM me the contact # as well. Thanks!
My husband and I credit our DS's PSLE results to this amazing tutor at Holland. (Sorry, I don't want to post her contact details in a public forum, as I have not asked for her permission.)
My DS was very fortunate to be under her tutelage since P5. My DS's P4 form teacher recommended to us when his results dipped in P5 SA1. He was not coping well with the transition from P4 to P5 then. He told us that the tutor and her team are experienced MOE teachers who are also PSLE markers for many years, they have written very good materials and are excellent at explaining the concepts. Besides, this particular lady tutor is very good at motivating and inspiring students. Everything he told us about her has turned out to be true. She has taught my son very well. He looked forward to his weekly lessons, and even initiated to join her English classes. What I also appreciate is the meticulous marking for compositions and Science open-ended questions. All the worksheets are neatly and carefully marked with feedback/ encouragement on the worksheets. It is very hard to find qualified teachers who not only teach well but have a heart for our children. This road to searching for the right tutor for my DS has been fraught with some very bad experiences with irresponsible/dishonest tutors. I've also paid for expensive tuition from a 'branded' tuition centre only to find out that the class tutor is a fresh graduate. Hope this helps! Julia
-
I also like to have the contact

I feel to score in Science, the kid must understand the concepts very well by knowing how to apply it, how the change in variables affect the outcome and be able to to know which concepts the teacher is testing them on for each question. Cannot memorize. Hence by doing the hands on experiments to know your hypothesis, variables, constants, outcome and explanation to even \"failed experiments\" are important.
I believe kids learn best if they enjoy the subject, hence my girl was under this teacher during her primary school days. It keeps her interest in Science till now in Sec 3 taking Triple Sciences.
My nephews are in this centre too. Elder one got A* for recent PSLE and younger one band 1 (P3).
Learning is a continuous process, hope all our children can enjoy learning for life.SydneyBB:
