I would advise against wearing HCI T-shirt. There will be a lot of students helpers around on Monday. If your ds wears a HCI t-shirt, it will be confusing for them. May be better to either wear home clothes or pri sch uniform I thought.

Yes fully agreed. Parents have to learn to let go or else they will never grow up. I let DS take bus from East to school on his own even though I could have drop him along the way to the West. Also let him decide if he wants to do 3rd language, electives, CSE, CCA, etc. He's the one studying. I appreciate Dr Hon's good intention to caution parents during Sec 1 orientation not to be too greedy.

        Imconcern:
        Welcome to HCI.

From past experience when my boy was posted to HCI 4 years back, we saw majority not in their school U. You can then go to make purchase of their books and uniform then.

Main thing is for parents not to get overly excited and try to decide everything for them. Remember, they are officially no longer a P6er. They are going Sec 1 and moving into a different chapter which will require a different mindset from parents when managing their progress.

One piece of advise. Join the PSG under the diff consortium. You will benefit from your involvement and interaction. Will help to manage our expectations and anxieties as parents too.

catfish1 - you may contact sch admin office to confirm. i called last year and was told can be in home clothes but still many went in pri sch uniform. thought it is better to wear something that is easy to try on the new uniform if u have yet to purchase.

          Thanks 7788,
in fact, we bought school uniform & T-shirt already..but want to know, whether he really needs to wear those on reporting day, or just simple cloth will do.. Maybe I will let him wear HCI T-shirt for the reporting day..

Hi, may I know where can I purchase the school uniform other than the school bookstore? Thanks!

HCI school uniforms are also available for sale at:

            Finest Fashion Centre
Beauty World Centre, B1-03 Upper Bukit Timah Road
            Tel: 6466-5697

Do call to enquire availability of size before going down just in case.

If I am not wrong, HCI PE t-shirts and shorts are only available for sale at the school’s Popular Bookshop

                Hi Parents,

I am excited and pleased to announce that my son will be joining HCI next year. I've learnt a lot from so many parents who have shared their experiences - THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. :thankyou:

I read IPParent's thread on how he was impressed with HCI boys that day after the results - I am glad to say I too was fortunate to experience the same when I attended the Open House after the results too.

This school MUST be doing something RIGHT!

May I know if the orientation is a over night camp or just full day and the kids can go home at the end of each day?

It is not an overnight camp.
