Hi and Blessed Christmas to all the families here. πŸ˜„

Like many others, my firstborn son will also be joining the RI family in 2015 and I have read nearly all the posts from page 280 onwards!!! But, I can't find the answer to the question I have in mind. (or I may have missed) πŸ˜“

May I know the recess/lunch timings in RI?

      Thank you in advances

        Hi Parents

My DS will be in Y1 2015

May I know which will be shorter walking distance to Gate 3 guard room....from bishan or marymount mrt?

We were told that the boys should enter by gate 3 as it is nearer t their block.

Gate 1 and 2 are students allowed to walk thru those gates?

It looks like Marymount walk to Gate 3 will be shorter.

        Please advise, thanks
Normally yr 1 to yr 4 will walk from Bishan MRT. Yr 5 and Yr 6 will use the Marymount MRT.

Pedestrian can use Gate 1 if coming from J8 or bishan mrt

Recess or lunch time depends on time tabling

Different days end at different time to cater for cca, 3rd lang, etc some are in campus and some other activities are outside

The school is very experienced in time tabling and things will fall into the right place and the right time. Parents need not worry too much

My son will be joining the Year 1 in 2015.
On 2 Jan, what time is the dismissal? At 10am or 12pm?

                Thank you \"pirated\". :thankyou:

You saw the concern heart over the child's meals.

On the same note, is there a pack food from home for recess/lunch culture in RI?

A little concern over the frequent eat out at Sec level.

                  Hi \"randwick\" Hi 5

Have you logged into https://stamford14.ri.edu.sg/? for parents?

There is a letter updating that the dismissal on 2 Jan for Yr 1 is 12 noon and not 10 am. πŸ™‚

                    This is NN’s DS.

                    About gates and MRT:
All gates are open except for the columbarium gate in the morning before school starts. Dropping off at the columbarium gate is a strict no-no.
Bishan MRT and Marymount MRT are roughly the same distance to the parade square, which is where flag raising is held every mon, tue and thu. However, to get from Bishan MRT to school, you have to cross the road twice and it isn’t sheltered all the way. Marymount MRT is sheltered all the way to school and is right outside one of the JC gates (which is accessible in the morning)
My friends and I just get off at the stop nearer to home. The extra 2 min of MRT time is more than the difference in walking time.
I would advise leaving home earlier in the first week or so so that your ds can decide which route is best (which MRT a station, etc)

You can always pack food from home for recess or lunch but you can't eat it in class room. Eat at canteen, join your friend, don't be mistaken as anti social. In fact packed lunch is a way to beat some of the short lunch break followed by afternoon activities

Totally understand that they can only eat at the canteen.

My children pack food at pr level for recess and/or lunch and have them at the canteen with their friends too. Just that packed food seems more common for pr school, and I'm wondering if they can still do so at sec level without being teased.

                        Thank you pirated πŸ™‚
