How any cca compulsary? Is it easy to get into science, Astronomy and math clubs?
-
Yes CCAs are compulsory. There’s two main types: Core and Merit. Core CCA is compulsory, while Merit is not. The last three clubs are merit so these are just additional CCAs for interest. Science and Math clubs are quite hard to get in (placement test) while Astronomy Club is basically a joke. They’ll be more than glad to get members, I suppose.

Thanks for your reply. May I know some details about placement test? When will the test take place? What kind of test it is?
Our boy more interested in Astronomy thatsy we thought so. What's the reason u mention it's a joke? Do u suggest any CCAs personally? Thanks -
I can’t remember what they tested actually, but if my memory serves me right it was Olympiad type of questions, usually held in late Jan / early Feb. Usually these clubs admit less than 50 a batch, so imagine how hard it is to join them.
Astronomy club has very few members and many not so active. There is no placemenr test either. However, if he’s interested, then sign up for it. Note that some sessions are held quite late (past 6pm).
I don’t really have any core CCA to suggest, but if he likes to volunteer he should go for Interact club (although it’s a pretty big commitment for a merit CCA). Members volunteer on a weekly basis at different places (almost anything under the sun) -

7am +/-
They should use public transport, like majority of students -
Most if not all the boys go through trials or profiling for the core cca - they choose you if you are profiled to be suitable and if you choose that cca
You get to rank up to 9 choices iirc
Most people choose one core cca at beginning of yr 1 but may end up with few other merit cca by year 4
If you are also in Euler or math ra, u auto join math club
If you are in Galileo or physics or Chem ra, u join science club also
Then you have prefectorial board, class cec, psl, etc
And along the way also join interact club …
Hahaha you need 48 hours a day …
