I've just realized that we did not make any arrangements for name tag. Was there a form in the orientation package to be filled out?

Any advice what's a good pair of running shoes that is acceptable by the school? Dd finds it 'cool' to wear something with a bit of colors (30% school colors) šŸ˜„

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi Olive,
Dun worry, the school will give your daughter the necessary form to filled up for the name tag during her 1st day of sch. Dun worry about it, all student will wear the cohort Colour name tag.

As for the track shoe as long as you follow the sch rules on Colour that is permissible, you will have a whole joy of shopping spree for the brand of track shoe your daughter like. Here are the rules below:

      • Only track shoes with white base are allowed. If there is any design/logo/minor trimming on the white-base track shoe, they should be small and inconspicuous, and must be either in black or school colours (blue, grey or gold)

*I have notice almost half of the students wear white sneaker shoe too.
not every child like to wear track shoe all week. My daughter always rotate wearing sneaker when there is no PE session for the day and wear track shoe if there is PE. And my daughter wear sneaker strictly for her girl guides as they require them to wear for foot drill.

      Enjoy your Xmas festive holiday...

      Thank you!
Thank you, All, for your kind sharing regarding school shoes.

        I hv more questions

Pocket money - Is $5(exclude drinks) sufficient for CCA days?

CCA briefing - on Reporting Day, it was mentioned that there will be a day (can't remember the date) where CCA briefing will take place and parents are allowed to attend the briefing. Did I get this right? Is it common for parents to turn up for this, or do most girls attend without their parents?

        TIA

The price range for the food sold in the school canteen is between $1.20 to $2. You can try giving your dd $5 first and remind her to feedback to you if she finds it insufficient during CCA days.

You may attend the CCA briefing but for my case, I let my dd attended on her own coz she would be looking at the audition dates for those CCAs that she was keen to join. šŸ˜„

        Thank you for your advice.

I also think it is not necessary for me to be there.

May I ask which year is your dd in? It's ok if you dun wish to say šŸ˜„
My dd will be in Y3 next year. šŸ˜„

So your dd is all geared up for 2 Jan ? šŸ˜„

By the way, welcome to Cedar family ! :rahrah: :rahrah:

From experience...school badges and name tags are item that is easily mis-placed.

That is why I got my dd a few extra school badges, imagine early morning need to rush to school but cannot find school badge...very stress, right? :stompfeet: :stompfeet: :stompfeet:

              Hahaha! U said it!

We were advised by the bookshop people to buy extra, just in case. So we bought 3. I think my dd forgot abt the badges when she emptied the plastic bag of the bookshop purchases, and discarded the plastic bag. Yet to start school, already misplace them. And she called me kiasu when I bought 3 šŸ˜†

No worries ! We shall learn from each other ! šŸ˜„

Just received an email from school that on 2 Jan 15, the Y3 will be having orientation too ! :rahrah: All lessons will be suspended for that day. Reason cited was the school is helping the students to transit into upper secondary. That is great isn't it ? Didn't remember having orientation for sec 3 during our times ! šŸ˜„ Appreciate the school's effort to help the girls bond with their new classmates (after Sec 2 streaming) :boogie: šŸ•ŗ

Also the time table for 2015 is already out and available via the LMS. Y1 Cedarians joining us next year will be given their login password and ID during the 1st week of school re-opens, irrc.

That's very nice of the sch to create bonding opportunities for the girls, even at Y3. Are the girls from both tracks grouped randomly for orientation? my dd is looking forward to meeting her ex-classmates in Cedar, and meeting new friends šŸ˜„

During my dd's time, they were grouped into their respective classes so that they could get to know their classmates better. There were inter-class games as well to help the girls bond as a cohort. There was a mass dance too. The orientation programme is solely planned and executed by the student leaders, hence might differ from year to year.

Yes, it is great to look forward to a brand new year, new school environment, renew friendships with ex-classmates and make new friends. And not forgetting great learning too ! Hope your dd will blossom here and enjoy her 4 years in Cedar. šŸ˜„

This shoe is okay and it's acceptable as it is more then 70% white base with few black.
