All About Polytechnics

Cd be because JCs are under MOE purview, so have to be careful with budget. (or maybe limited budget for marcomm materials?)I am curious. DS n I (parent) received flyers from various Polys to attend their openhouses n talks.
Is it common for Polys to do this.
Why don't JCs do that?
Another possible reason, what JCs have to offer at A level are fairly straight forward. Most of their Open Houses are held in a single day? (i think)
On the other hand, polys are bigger institutions, and they have their own budget, of which a decent portion is spent on JAE and Open House to attract first choice applicants.
There are also so many different schools, diplomas and courses in poly, so need to educate parents and students to make the right choices. Their Open Houses usually run over 3 days and it's a carnival like atmosphere, with each school organising their respective activities. Was impressed with what the students are exposed to. -
Which is better for music development? Nafa or Lasalle? Appreciate any input.

I once heard from my own JC teacher that advertising for JCs are not allowed. At most, they are only allowed to hang banners outside their schools. Same as the local universities. Their advertising cannot be too aggressive. This is because there is already quite a huge competition for good O level scores in order to get into JC and also into our local universities. Having more advertisements will just increase that competition. Increased competition for the limited number of spaces will only lead to greater dissatisfaction for those who do not make it.I am curious. On the other hand, polytechnics can still take in more students. Hence, siphoning more students towards poly instead of JCs might remove the pressure on the JCs.
The only exceptions I see are for SUTD and SIT. This is also in effect to reduce the competition for admission to the big 3. Then again, JCs and local universities dont need much advertising. Admissions get harder each year even without any advertising. -

This is what my friend told me too. They are trying to lure students to go to Poly instead of JCs to offload the demand. -
With SIT catering mostly poly students. The chances of Poly students getting a Degree has increase. So it is a good news for the children who want to study in Poly.

If the same poly courses (chemical engineering) r offered by NP, SP & TP. We placed 1st choice as SP as SP has the lowest cut iff point. If the child did not get into SP will he/she be allocated ti NP or TP instead? Although his 2nd choicr for course may be mass comms instead?
I m kinda lost with the JAE poly application. Can someine advise? -

Anyone has any feedback on international business in poly?

If the student puts SP Chem Eng as 1st choice, but can't get in, the system looks at your indicated 2nd choice, say, NP mass comm. If the L1R2B2 meets the minimum requirement for NP mass comm, then will be admitted. But if fail to meet the COP, then will look into your 3rd choice and so forth. If the same poly courses (chemical engineering) r offered by NP, SP & TP.
