Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)

I guess they changed the flow. How was the JRIC last Friday ? Did any mommies (& daddies) use the tissues they brought along ?
You mean the PSLs led the Yr-1 boys into the Hall ? I recall, 3 years ago, the Yr-1s were already seated (by classes) in the Hall, when the parents arrived. And the parents were led to sit near to our boys' classes (1-2 rows in front). So, the parents were seated amongst the boys..
This year, it seems like the Yr-1 boys were seated in the middle, while the parents were seated by both sides, of the Hall (courtesy of janitor's photo
)..
Did the boys perform the Rafflesian cheers & feet-stomping feat ? The awesome experience is still fresh in my mind, after 3 years. The thot of it makes me have goose bumps, even now..
yup, parents seated at the side according to classes with empty seats for the Yr 1 in the middle.
Year 1s make their grand entrance, followed by staffs, and the programme went on.
And yes, they did do the cheers

A big thank you to the PSLs for the effort and support given to the Y1s. My DS said the PSLs were very kind, friendly and helpful throughout the orientation. We enjoyed every minute of the Investiture too!!!

1) Can parents/students comment on life in Year 5 and 6?
2) Do the teachers provide sufficient help? Or students need to rely on tuition?
TIA. -
Hi all, new to this thread and not too active but since DS just joined RI as year 1, will love to hear and share experiences with other RI parents and students esp from fellow year 1 parents. Any parent with DS in 1C class?

Dear Seniors
Tmr some classes are having compulsory CCA profiling. Starts at 230pm. Sch ends at 210pm. There is only one break in the morning.
How will the kids have their lunchโฆthe CCA profiling ends at 645pm so it may not be a good idea to skip lunch.
Any advice? -

Sweet Joy:
Speaking from my daughter's experience, her teachers have generally been very good. Clarification on academic work can be sought from the lecturer or tutor, and classmates and batchmates have proven to be an excellent source of support as well. Rafflesians by and large study hard and play hard. There is a lot of involvement in CCA and other activities, and Year 5 was a whirlwind of activities.1) Can parents/students comment on life in Year 5 and 6?

How to do CCA profiling when limping with a sprained ankle? So very bad timing....[/quote]Well I send my kids to RI (instead of a nursery) because I wanted him to be trained as a leader. Hence as leaders, I will have to let him try to take care of himself instead. Maybe it will be good to start reminding ourselves, they are grown up boys now, time to let go...
