All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

I am not a Pv and will be applying myself this year. Pv selection is not based on proximity to the school. But during phase 2b, Pv can still get balloted out if there are more applicants than vacancies.Hi parents,
I would like to register for PV at Rosyth. I will be grateful if there are any parents who have serve PV at Rosyth to shed some light.
1. If I am within 1km how are my chances to be selected for PV
2. What do I have to do if I am selected?
I do not have any skill sets nor I have done well academically and I am not good in sports either . I do not know what I can do for the school. I didn't expect I need to plan so early in advance to get my child in the preferred choice. Thanks in advance
Duties can be administrative, library duties, traffic control etc. most Pv are involved in the orientation this week .
selection of Pv not necessarily based on your talents. -

The application process include first an application form with some questions to answer. Suggest you go through it, answer to the best of your ability and see if you're selected for interview. Take it one step at a time & don't worry about your qualifications.
I don't know how they choose the PVs but I guess being within 1km is an advantage.
1) It seems that years prior to 2014, PVs within 1km all got in and balloting only applied to 1-2km. In 2014 however, there was balloting even within 1km. So how this year turns out is anybody's guess.
2) The tasks are generally administrative, can include preparing awards for the students, and helping out during first 3 days of school.
Hope it helps.

I was a PV in Rosyth 8 years ago n I helped out in the library at lunch time once a week for 1 year.
During my time, I was told that the school prefers SAHM and I was a FTWM.
I didn’t have any specific skills but I told them what n how I can contribute towards the school. I showed my sincerity n genuine intentions. I think that helps a lot.
Maybe I was just lucky to be selected. -

That was what i heard too, about the preference. But doesn’t seem to be the case so far. Many of the pvs are ftwm.
I think if interested, weigh your chances & try. The school just turned single session so the requirements & profiles they’re looking for might be different. -

another question:
is it a strict NO NO for applying PV for school distance more than 2KM frmo where we stay? no clan, no alumni… -

u can apply.. but whether or not u stand a chance depends on the popularity of the school.. Rosyth will accept pv >1km if you meet their needs. But if there is balloting then distance will play a partAny one can advise the application form for Rosyth PV for submission on 26th Jan onwards.
