ya, I remember previously I let my maid use the housephone to call home. She takes her own sweet time. The moment she use the calling card, she speeds up her conversation. Only goes to show that they feel the pinch only when they are the ones using the phone!!

If its a good maid, we can close one eye. Let her use the phone. But if the good maid turns nasty near the end of her contract, we are still the ones who suffer. It has also been one way for Singapore employers.

I wrote to MOM about limiting the transfer. Hope they really do something.

True true. My ex-maid very zi-dong. I paid for all her phone calls, and even urged her to make 10 min calls (she always done after 3-5min). This current one cannot. Have to see the wind and decide the direction.

Better don't let the maid use the housephone as your number would appear on the other party handphone. You would get tons of phonecall in the future.

At the most, let the maid use your HP to call. If appear they call your HP you can simply ignore incoming call foc.Just Hello hello then hang up!

Its really good to know that u wrote to MOM regarding the maids limit of transfer.... I think u could c/o one copy to the association of emplyment agencies. They do have a control over the agents in spore.
Im real frustrated that my agent who knows my maids nonsense have recently found an indian emplyer for her the fourth time. He thinks this employer is most suitable as they are using 2 maids and all my maid need to do is help the mother to cook for something like 6-10 people at home. Im not happy with her transfer but what can i do.
Im going to make a police report after she leaves and after replacement comes in next week. :x

True true, you may also want to unlist the housephone. BTW, if any employer here helps maids with sending money back, also must remember to fill in the right number, I wrote in the housephone (maid didn't know the number, and it's unlisted).....and then remembered that she'll have a copy of the form....so had to hurriedly black it out....ooops. :stupid:

I mean if her relatives need to call urgently then how?? then u have to give them the house phone no.
okay, haven't thought about it. But they have my handphone number - when she first arrived, I asked her to use my hp to call back home. And she calls back often enough.

cause in my case I had to give the house number cause the relatives called up my h/p then say very urgent blah blah no choice... atleast i have my IL's home to keep an eye if she over uses it 😉
It's very case specific. My maid is based solely at my mum's house. There are long stretches of time when there is no one in the house - day time/evening time. So she essentially has free reign, I can imagine her stuck on the phone if she gives her friends and all the phone number.
