      Hi parents,

My daughter is in sec 1 this yr. I find that the 40 mins reading period twice a week unnecessary. And the assembly that can last to 230pm (past lunch time almost tea time) unacceptable. By then most of the students will be v hungry as some may need to travel home. Does normal sec only hv one recess break? What is the normal sch dismissal time?

            Hi,

Can anyone help me with textbook use by WSSS (this year sec 1 2016)?
Or anyone has book list of 2016?

Result of successful posting (or not) will be late but I would like to prepare to collect some textbook from NTUC drive earlier in Dec if possible.

For express. Mainly I like to know which English textbooks (M/c or Hodder Educ), which Maths (New Syllabus or discovering math), which Science textbook (M/c, Hodder educ or Star Publisher) the school is using?

I think the rest of the subjects mainly have 1 type in the market used by MOE (?), actually I am not sure also.

            Can anyone help?
Do let me know if possible.

            Thank you. πŸ™‚

Hi, I plan to choose West Spring Sec for my daughter taking PSLE this year. I got feedback that they changed principal last year and it seems the incumbent is less passionate than the former principal. I know it’s subjective but I’d like to hear different perspectives.

I was following a DSA thread when I chanced upon this and would like to reply in the capacity of a fellow mum.

While the former lady principal's indeed motherly, I feel the current principal is as passionate. He's experienced and does his best for the school.

Staff culture is good. Many teachers including key personnel are generally close knitted and work well together. Such positive vibes in turn will benefit students.

In my opinion, one way to know if a school offers positive learning experience is to observe if staff encourages their own kids to study there. Every year there will be staff's kids joining West Spring Sec.

If your daughter's expected PSLE T-score is around 225 and above, I feel you can safely choose West Spring Sec as an option.
