During my recent trip, I had about half a day at Miyajima only because I went to visit the Mazda Factory Plant just a few train stops away from Miyajima.starlight1968sg:
I like Miyajima and of course the deer.
Starlight,
Did you explore all the sights on the island? How much time do you need for that?
:thankyou:
This is obviously not enough but gives me reasons to revisit there.
I took the ropeway up and down (forget about hiking unless you are well trained) to Mt Misen.
I ate the oysters and \"fed the deer\" -

I'm not the hiking type. Too Lazy. So the only way for me is the Ropeway :rotflmao: . Is the view up there worth the trouble going it, in your opinion?
Also, did you visit the Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum? How much time do I need to set aside for that? -
Yes, it is worth the trip up to Mt Misen.
Bring some tit-bits or snacks so that you can sit down, snack while enjoying the scenary.
The cable car ride itself up to Mt Misen is already unique.
Unless you are a museum person, you can forget about the museum. The Park is quite spacious and plenty of walking though.
It is a serene but sad place.
Compared to Nagasaki Peace Park, I would prefer Hiroshima’s somehow.
Dont forget to eat the Bakudanya tsuke-men at JR Hiroshima Shinkansen station. It is simply delicious and I can’t find any tsuke-men in Singapore even close to this shop’s. -

I know what you mean about it being a sad place. We visited the park and museum at Nagasaki many years back and felt the same way. How much time we spend at the park and museum will probably depend on what time we manage to get to Hiroshima. We are still waitlisted on the SIN-Fukuoka flight. If we manage to get that then we'll be able to get to Hiroshima earlier :xedfingers: -
Each time I visit Japan, I will make a trip to Hiroshima to "feel" the impact the bomb bought.
I guess 2hrs in the Park would be sufficient.
The Park is quite a distance (min 30min walk) from the JR Station. -

I've checked and they have a tram that I can take from the station to the museum so I think I'll try that. We just arrive from an overnight flight that day, so I doubt I'll have the energy for long walks. And we managed to get our flight to Fukuoka, :rahrah: so it'll be a shorter train ride to Hiroshima. Then we leave from Kansai, Osaka. -

Hi, going to tokyo in dec with hubby and 3 kids, any hotel to recommend for tokyo and hakone? My budget is about SGD120 per night/room. as for hakone, not sure about the price. TIA -
How long is ur trip?
For Tokyo, you can try Toyoko-Inn or Super Hotel.

Hakone is a bit more expensive. Recommended that you guys do a day trip to save some cost. But if you wish to stay in Hakone, can try the ones listed here

Do you think booking through hotels.com and agoda.com will be cheaper?
We will be going on the 2dec, reaching narita at ard 1705, departing tokyo on the 16dec, 2050.
My 3 kids are 14,12 and 9. This is our first time.
Currently places to visit on my mind is disneyland/sea, pokemon center(kids' request), nissin noodle museum, odaiba, ginza, tokyo tower, mount fuji, etc.
