Anyone into buying bonds here? Not very sure how it really works and can someone assist to explain?

I do via ATM for some new bonds.

      Bonds are for longer tenure?

Why AUD is not a good time to go in?

If you have extra funds, should buy when it is low and just earn the interest. And when AUD rates up then sell and you will earn. That was what we used to do and the exchange can be a big difference.

Agreed, I should have kept my USD and buy more when it's at all time low at 1.22. Now it's 1.36 and I have to fork out more money to pay my USD bills 😢

Yes, longer tenure. The only bond I hold is DBS Perpetual Bond @ 4.75% p.a., redeemable at it's 10th year.

                Do take note:
Bond prices fall when interest rates rise. Face penalties for early redemption, plus the local bond market is very illiquid.

Same here. I am also the conservative type and not into any foreign currencies.

USD probably rise again but will be range-bound between 1.37 to 1.42 :scratchhead:

Global demand for commodities weak which means less demand :gloomy: for AUD to pay for Australian iron ore, coal etc

AUD is very weak now. It’s almost on par with SGD.

Will it drop even more later this year?
