I am thinking hard how to improve DD's English. Some friends recommended British Council. Anybody has experienced with British Council?

We let the kids try BC when they are in P2-P3. Cannot make it. Teaching is too general that it's not result oriented. Especially if you are thinking of PSLE now, it does seem challenging.

After BC, they went to lcentral...which is observed to be more academic but they continue to score in the 60s - 70s range but dropped to 60s in P5. So no choice, we eventually send them to a private tutor. Fees are not cheap. Eg. $45 per hour, group lesson and at her place. Well... ds managed a A in EL last year for PSLE. But he was going for intensive tuition like twice a week and 2 hours each time months before PSLE... you can do your math on the cost....

If it produces the results...better than me! I spent don't want to think how much on EL last year and stopped it this year. Results the same! :faint:

English tuition is very expensive and results are usually proven much later…there are so many components to strengthen.

[/quote]I can relate to this....sigh! Spent more $ for CL tuition but ended up the result for normal Chinese flat (exact same marks) and Higher Chinese went down from Credit to Pass. 😢

Just gotten to know some of his CA1 marks.......Maths turned out worse than P5 SA2 marks :frustrated: Its like taking a step forward, then two steps back 😢 and only 6 more months to go.

I spent so much money on English tuition when son was sitting for PSLE...lessons were so intensive and got only a B. I dare not calculate the amount spent :nailbite:

Ladies, don't stress or get burnt out now...because July onwards, schools will push very hard...you would have to provide moral support.

I thought that with DS being so bad in EL, he would have to attend booster program next week. Instead, the class is for foundation students only. So those who are in standard EL not required to attend. Even if the student just passed. :slapshead:

As much as I sympathise with kids in foundation class, I just wished the school doesn't neglect those who are just skimming by in standard class. Of course, DS even happier that he doesn't have to attend the program.

                      you are welcome 😄
when teachers in school start pushing from july...we cannot push at home or the kids will be burnt out. so maybe you can bring them out for ice cream or make some fruit juices...not too near PSLE oral though.
