today i got a shock when i knew that my CDA account is dried up.

then i \"asked OCBC\", got another shock that PAP kindergarten is charging $200 / mth for K1 classes !!!!!

      My first reaction was \"WTH\"? :x :x :x
      PAP charging $200 / mth ??

      I tot it was like $50 /mth ? :?
I recalled the nusery fee last year was $90 for 3 months!!!

saw my DD home work, at K1 level, they are still teaching how to write letters a , b , c .... cant demand $200 with this type of standard..

any good K1 schools in TPY ?

        1. some PCF kindergarten do charge $200/mth; i thought should have notification on fees deduction via communication booklet? if not, i thought OCBC will send monthly statement to reflect the deduction?
        2. i don't think nursery fee is $90 for 3 mths. my ds1's pcf last time charge $50/mth and they are the normal/regular pcf standard (their K1,2 fees is $1oo/mth).
        3. see if you can find anything here...http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=735&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30

honestly, PCF really must improve their standard.

with 25 children in one class, still dare to accept $200 / mth.

really pity those who earns just >$1800 / mth and cannot get grant!!!

can someone kindly write a summary of pcf kindergarten.

            i m very confused.
            1) are school fee standard at $200 / mth?
            2) at K1 level, what should the teacher be teaching now ( term 2)?

i m asking because my DD in this pcf kindergarten (TPY) still pratice writing letters a,b,c only…

i m seriously considering to transfer DD to other kindergarten if needed.

            thanks.

I stay at Pasir Ris. The fees for PCF kindergartens is abt $150-$170 (not too sure of the actual amt) It's a 4 hrs program with jollyphonics & Julia Garbriel Speech & Drama (once 1 wk). The children are given homework every week (writing alphabets/numbers). They are taught to draw and construct simple sentences too like \"I have a pet fish/cat.\"

Every PCF centres operate differently. U may ask the teacher or principal for their syllabus.

Girlmum is right… no one can run through the curriculum better than the

centre’s staff. Do give them a chance to show you what they offer & do
highlight your doubts on your child’s P1 readiness before you decide to
                swap… just my honest opinion.

Ask the class teacher herself/principal to explain to you the works on
their curriculum and their methods. Also find out how… (if you decide
to let your child stay on…) they ensure children in their centre are P1
ready. Meaning to say… what would your child be learning up till K2…

Meanwhile, you do need to research a bit on P1 topics to be equipped
for that discussion, so that you are also able to tell if the explanation
details given to you are pretty much substantiated.

                Just my 2 cents.

$200/mth is considered premium programme. For my son’s pcf, they have once a week jolly phonics, music n dance (jazz), art, speech n drama, maths. Twice a wk, they have outdoor or gym. Everyday they have Chinese. K1 is 4hr. Optional enrichment available at extra cost
