oh, regarding the regressing bit, I’m not sure if this is common. My current maid, when she’s first here, my mum commented that she cleans floors very well. But fast forward few months later, even I also can tell that the floor doesn’t seem as clean as it used to.

Feel that there is always that lag once they get used to us, the effort they put in seems to go down that bit. And then when comes to go home time, even worse.

      Sigh…

Agree to it totally my maid used to wash the clothes so nicely now after 9 months the food which by mistake is fallen by kids are still there 😞

This is called cutting corners leh! Some very zi dong...if told nicely, they listen and buck-up till the next. For my smarty pants maid, I don't yell anymore...I just tell her not to repeat it. Very forgetful this one...but it could be all a show.
Moonee, hey don't despair. I go through hell with maids before. Don't worry you are not the only one who has to pay and pay. I paid alot too to get this current maid. You will hit jackpot one day for sure. My previous \"gila\" Myanmar maid loan of $2000+ still not return to me yet. So I m also hoping real hard to get back the money soon! Once I get back this money, my nightmare will truly be over. I understand how you feel. That's why I hope more employers will also write to MOM to limit the transfer. Am totally supporting Tamarind's blog and her idea of pressuring them to help employers.
Thanks peapot, Im fully supportive of Tamarindss blog, shes good, like the way she stands firm and speak out :celebrate:
Well im taking my replacement on Wednesday, dont have any confidence left in all these transfered maids anymore. We can treat them well but nowadays with outside influence and a big loan they feel that they can get a better deal elsewhere. Most of the time we get played out, its sickening to start all over again just after 3 mths, cant MOM understand its not only money but time, effort and a lot of patience to train them. Then its bye bye again,,,Maid Sack Employer! Then the cycle starts again. Sporeans dont have time to keep track of maids. All we want is a serious worker. Times have surely changed....Its their world now, and no thanks to MOM!! :x

infact,I just called MOM yesterday. Was screaming at them for the lack of support employers get. I know our conversation was recorded for coaching and training purpose. I told her to submit our recorded conversation to her superior.

Moonee, be positive. Maybe your this new replacement will be a gem! Actually if you haven’t get a replacement, I would recommend you my current agency. I would rate her service only so-so but its her accepting only P. D cheques that is worth considering. At least we don’t have to come up with huge amounts of cash. As for whether her maids are good or not, that is really "heng or suah".

Hi peapot, yup!! great that u called MOM, :celebrate: whats the dept. to contact? I hope to do that after things have settled too. Have really been mentally stressed by this maid. Well I do hope the replacement is not here on a \"work holiday\" too but not expecting anything much as I took her in haste n didnt interview her thoroughly. Oh yes, I had meant to leave this agent but due to the situation I was facing with this Indon I had to take someone fast but if this new girl dnt work out I will not be using him any more,,, sure I very much prefer to change to any other agent that allow P/d cheques. Why pay upfront and the agent still call the shots!

Yes moonee, nowadays its very hard to find good maid agent. Since its so difficult to find a good one, I decided that mode of payment will be my criteria for choosing maid agency. Afterall, the service only so-so.

just call the mainline of MOM and you will be directed to a call centre. if you find it troublesome to call them, just send them an email and in your email, ask them to call you. they will call you for sure.

Actually its meaningless for me to just call them. One employer creating a racket won’t raise any alarm. They need more employers to add pressure on them. Anyway, I just had to vent my frustrations because of my own maid issue. Luckily my case has settled, now waiting for my loan to be returned from the maid agency.

It's offical - my home has become a stepping stone for Filipino maids :x . My maid of 1.5 year will be leaving us again for greener pasture, this time Denmark. I've mentioned in my previous posts that my former 2 maids both went to Norway after 1 year stint here. We kind of expected this as this maid was recommended by my 2nd maid, and the 2nd one was introduced by the 1st. So there's already a well-established \"career ladder\" for them.

Now we're debating if we should ask our old maid to give us another recommendation or just ask an agent to find us one. The advantage of the former is that we'll have some background info on the new maid, and the new maid will kind of know what to expect from us. Also, since she'll count on us to be her stepping stone, i.e. the time till her friends abroad find her another dream job, she won't do anything funny. There's also less risk for us not to recover the loan.

The advantage for the latter is that we might be able to find a maid who can stay with us longer as hopefully she doesn't have connections in all these scandinavian countries. It's just very tiring to train and adjust to a new maid. But after reading all the horrible cases here, it makes me think twice. :?

minnie, have you tried Indo maids before? Actually like you, my first maid also went to Norway and I had to retrain again. But the difference is that she works 2 and half year. I would much prefer a maid who can complete 2 years contract. Not 1 year, not 1 and half but 2 years.

Have you ever thought of trying other nationality. From your fiery red emoticon, I can tell you are sick of retraining maids. A contract is signed for 2 years. Tell your new maid whoever breaks the contract must pay. That’s the purpose of a contract. This will ensure she completes her 2years contract whether or not she is using your house as a stepping stone.

                        Hi peapot,

That’s why we plan to add a penalty clause to the next maid such that we keep 2 months salary if she doesn’t complete her contract. Although this won’t keep her from leaving early, it’ll at at least somewhat compensate our time wasted in training a new maid.

Still I feel more comfortable getting a referral since we are on good terms with our maids. As for Indo maid, I’m afraid communication is a prob as not many can speak good Eng.

                        LKVM,
you keep 4 months salary? That must be a big deterrant!
