For next year; is the decision already made concerning yr5 boarding ?

Last heard from DS is that no decision yet. But my DS very \"boh-chap\" on this topic so maybe his \"news\" not that updated.
Boarding has brought about some positive changes....just like NS...so I hope they continue with the prog.

Is there no more government subsidies for year 5 boarding? Without subsidy, and with no EESIS or ESIP scholarship, it costs $320+$700 per mth for year 5. That is a huge sum. Is there still compulsory boarding for year 5, or is it optional?

Next year Year 5 is still compulsory. But was told will utilise some of school funds/donations. Probably after that not compulsory anymore. Even with EESIS, it's still a big sum if you have 2 kids going boarding. It's like having another car šŸ˜“

Thanks. But we haven't heard anything fr the school yet. About the part on utilizing school funds/donations, I am not sure if it can cover the subsidies, which is about $350 per year 5 student, per month. Anyway, where did you get the info about next year boarding still being compulsory as well as there will be funds/donations? Thanks again.

Boarding is still compulsory for next year's batch but after that, it may not. My guess is maybe they will continue to provide subsidies to lower income groups but others may have to pay full $700 per month. Another possibility is not full year boarding .... But it's just my guess only.

Those on financial assistance will get subsidy of 33% to 100% for year 5 boarding, that has always been the case. It would be very unreasonable to make compulsory full year boarding if there is no subsidy next year. Without subsidy, I think 1-term or 2-term boarding is good enough, for the experience.

I remember Dr Hang has ever mentioned that if no subsidy, they will not make boarding compulsory. I know of some students come from families that are not so well off. Although their GHI may not meet the subsidy requirement, but I do think it will be a strain on these families, esp if they have several kids.

the \"guess\", is it referring to boarding or the subsidies ?
Just wanna know if boarding for yr5 next year is on or not.
My DS \"blur blur\" when I asked about yr5 boarding next year, he said still unsure due to funds.

My guess refers to both, but is the batch after next year.

Next year is pretty sure compulsory, though details still not given, as it was from the VP.

FYI, Career Day is 21st May, good to seize opportunity to attend the talks or visit the booths before deciding which majors/honours to take at year end.

There is also an email sent to the students by the college counsellor and I like the way he put the message across as I think he is being very frank and practical.
