I’m currently staying at Jurong extension. My son is currently 2yo but i think early planning goes a long way and it allow me time to plan for stuff or any last minute things that might come along the way.

My hubby pri sch is Jurong Pri whereas i studied at Bukit Panjang Pri.

The shortlisted school that i have select:

      Shuqun Pri (need PV)
Rulang Pri (i know how difficult to get in)
      Bukit Panjang Pri

      Maybe
Jurong Pri (anyone have review on the teachers or teaching method)

        Hi,

I will need to enrol my girl for Pri 1 next year and we have 2 choices under Phrase 2A as below :

        1) Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary Sch (Bt Timah)
        2) Keming Primary Sch (Bt Batok)

We are staying at West Coast therefore both schools’ travelling time I would say its not very ideal but however we would not want to go through the risk of balloting for other schools, my main concern is that PHPPS is still in the afternoon session for Pri 1 whereas KPS is already in the single session. Academically and holistic wise I think both schools are comparable.

Any advises from the other parents on these 2 schools for my consideration?

        Thanks!

            Hi mummy of 3,

Nope not in the case of PHPPS. MOE has not found a holding site for the school yet so I feel it could take another 2yrs for this school.

Travel time will be an issue after school.

The other issue is although your child is under phase 2A, you are staying more than 2km from Pei Hwa...if balloting takes place, will you be at a disadvantage?

                Janet88,

Based on past years history, no balloting was required for Phrase 2A & 2B for both schools. Yes, though its every parents dream to enrol into the SAP school but PHPPS really at a disadvantage as till now it has yet to move into the single session. I’m in a dilemma.

if there is no balloting required, then the only headache now is the distance. when school finishes at 630pm, it is evening peak hour...going home to west coast will take more time.

                      do consider factors like:
                      1) single session...saves a lot of time on the road to and fro.
                      2) higher Chinese is not easy...not implying your child cannot cope.
                      3) environment is also very strict (my son was formerly from pei hwa).

                        janet88,

Yes I truly agree on the flexibility of single session whereby kids will have more time after school, care to share how did your son fare in PHPPS? Seriously I’m not too sure about my girl’s stress level at K2 since there is more play than work but overall I think she is able to cope with the spelling and homework so far. I believe most school pushes kids these days so I feel stress is everywhere. Do you happen to know anything about KPS? I wonder if it will be a pity if I will to choose KPS over PHPPS since its a SAP school which every parents would have made it their #1 choice.
