From what I know, ASD kids can be exempted from NS if we want to. And of course, if we want our kids to serve NS, I am quite sure Mindef will assign them simple tasks, they prob will not trust them with rifles and granite!

I’ve read about an autistic NSman’s account that it can’t be exempted. I think it will probably depends on how severe the condition is. If able to go mainstream and Pathlight, then unlikely to be exempted.

But he's still so young! Obviously he isn't going NS now. There are many more years to go and by the time he is to go NS, he would be a lot better than now.

You seem to assume that there will be no improvement in your son's understanding and behaviour between now and 18yo! Can you imagine any NT 6yo managing in NS? When the time comes, if you have serious worries, that is the time to ask what the policies are.

Just got my son’s half-yearly progress report from his pre-school. Not too bad except for the inability to sit properly and wavering attention. Hee… Hee… V thick skin mommy here hor? Like that also can but I have come to term with my son’s condition and I know he will get better but it takes time.
