Attitude…she said her friend went for a sch visit(recently I think) and there was a P2 Chinese teacher using a mic telling a child off with nasty comment like "u believe I throw it down from level 2"…I found it unbelievable as I does go to the sch for PV duties previously n I don’t hear much of teachers screaming nor scolding. So perhaps its nt true…

My boy who is currently in P1 has no issues with his Chinese teacher. My personal view is that maybe the kid might have received several warnings until the teacher felt that it is time to use the method? I have told my boy, as long as he doesn't do anything wrong, the teacher will not scold. In other words, it is the kid's responsibility to be a good student. As long as the teachers doesn't lay hands on the kid, it is fine. i believe discipline is very important and parents does play an important role in this as well. -

thanks for your reply was just checking as the website indicated it ..Primary one hours for 2015 is from 8am (needs to report to school at 7.45am) to 2 pm from Monday to Friday.
From what I know, the school doesn't seem to be teaching 弟子规. Seriously, I hope they don't ever start on this 弟子规 thing. I have read it before and to be frank, I got As for my chinese during O levels and yet until now, I don't appreciate this way of learning chinese. I know some kids were taught to memorize the verses, but seriously, I do not know if they understand in detail what they are memorizing about. Yes, I agree when they learned the verses, they should be some form of translation to explain the verses, but the way the chinese words are formed together, I am still not attracted to it. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion therefore hope that some parents who are in favor of 弟子规 will not be upset about my comments. :please:

Hi,
I’m registering my son for P1 next year.
Went to the seminar on 30 May and seem that PVPS teachers are young…not sure if they are inexperienced as no teachers approach my hubby and myself to intro or check if we have questions when we are at their booth (It is not crowded). Kinda disappointed as it is our first choice option prior to attending the seminar.
However, we did grab a chance to talk to the principal and happy to know more of the sch.
Any mummies can share their feedback on the teachers esp those teachers who may be new and inexperience (just graduated).
Thank you. -
Hi ET_mum,
I am not speaking for the teachers in Palm View. In fact this is generally referred to all teachers in Singapore. I guess personally, my concern is not whether the teachers are young or old. Young doesn’t mean that they don’t have the necessary qualifications or qualities to teach and guide the children, old doesn’t mean that they are flexible to the ever changing teaching methods to new generation kids. Remember our ear-pulling days from teachers?
I think most importantly, teachers need to have a passion and the ‘heart’ to want to guide the kids well. Anyway, my boy’s teacher is 29 years old this year. Wonderfully happy to have her because she knows how to manage the class well and most importantly my boy has no issues with her. Of course not forgetting the fact that no school will have all ‘perfect’ teachers and expectations will differ among parents.
Just my 2 cents worth. Happy sourcing ! -
Just to add, my kids have both young n older teachers for their preschool education n I feel they both have their strengths in teaching the kids. Younger ones can relate more n energetic while older ones are more caring/nurturing n patient. Just my personal obervations.
May I ask if the side/backdoor is opened b4 assembly? Cos its a nearer route fr my HSE.
