Since you have three kids, I say, go to rosyth. If distance is too much of an issue, shift over to Serangoon North. It’s easier to shift house than to get into the school you want.

Hi everyone, just joined the group yesterday.

I have a boy born in 2010, currently staying around Aljunied area but plan to move back my own home at Toh Guan Rd (blk266).

Need your advice on any good school around the area?

I do not have a helper, my wife is working around Chao Chu Kand area and me working around Clementi … need your advice on ways we should go about looking for a good school for my son…

Thank you in advance guys …

Hi. Just tring to get an idea. I applied for PV in 3 different schools. within 1km, between 1-2 km and greater than 2km. Was rejected at all 3 schools. Anyone found it difficult getting a PV spot in schools for 2017 intake.

I was wiling to do more than required PV hours and in many different capacities but still rejected.
Is it because schools are cutting down on number of parents accepted for PV?
            🤷 :?

To answer your question, it is perhaps useful to know which are the 3 schools? Are the 3 different schools one of those \"hot\" schools? For eg. the conclusion based on NYPS, RGPS and SMPS will be very different from BTPS, SPS and BHPS (assuming all these schools accept PV).

If yes, then it is not surprising to see rejection, especially if you live more than 1km away.
If your choice within 1km is not one of those popular schools, then it is indeed surprising (but the school may have more than the required number).

Two of the schools were popular - Henry park (1km) and fairfield methodist (1-2km). The other school wasn’t but may have been rejected due to distance. Well no chance for PV now. Have to try for 2C. I’m thinking of moving closer to other schools which have less likelihood of balloting. Not sure of my chances when need to ballot in phase 2C for good schools in my area.

Which was why I tried to apply for PV in the first place.

You don't seem like a local. Coz a local will not ask if there's any racial quota in a school since there isn't. Are u a citizen? a lot will depend on whether u are citizen or not.

It only depends on whether you are willing to let your child learn Chinese as \"mother tongue\". The schools you mentioned only offer Chinese, and not Tamil or Malay. The languages offered by each school are listed on http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/.

You beta check with SHHK on your chances cos Ai Tong is a very hot school. Traditionally, one has to score very high on their internal scale (either long tenure member - 1/2 years is very hard) or maybe do a lot of volunteer work etc in order to qualify for the recommendation letter. Pls note, SHHK will not be able to tell you definitively that they can issue you the letter - it will depend on supply and demand at end of day.

Ai Tong is jus one of the school under SHHK...i am also aiming for Chongfu which is within 1km fr my house. Aitong is nearer to my boy's school in bishan. Definitely I will check with SHHK before deciding to join or not. Nothing is definite...jus trying our best to get our kids in good school afterall. Fail also no regret...as least i tried.. 🤷[/quote]

Why not you consider to join grassroot?
