Will be interesting to see the number of shows that require balloting in P2A(1) and P2A(2) in 2016 and 2017. Could send a lot of shivers down the parents of cohort 2019.

Parents should seriously consider joining their desired schools' Alumni sooner than later, if they are really concerned.

Cos if you are in alumni you are automatically an old boy or girl already…

If the school is oversubscribed in Phase 2A(1), it means there will be no places left for Phase 2A(2). So the next chance is at Phase 2B (20 seats) and Phase 2C (20 seats + left over from Phase 2B, if any).

You need to be Alumni for at least a year before you qualify for Phase 2A(1).

Indeed. To hedge your bets, you can rent and stay at a place near the school for 30 months and then buy the house later when your child gets a confirmed place.

So for your niece, there's no option and she will have tougher competition due to dragon year, unless there's a strong enough reason to defer, but you need approval from MOH.

this niece would either be registered in bukit merah (where they stay) or sengkang (her maternal side). reason is mum can't help with school work. both parents work long hours in changi area.

Thanks Galaxyraider, look like next year should be a seamless P1 registration exercise for parents. Notice a trend that every year we have more males than females...boys' schools, co-ed would be in demand vs girls' schools.
