Hi All,


Last minute where I can managed to attend the \"Meet The Principal' session so just share some info with all parents here. It was not a big group where about 7-8 parents attending due to maybe not many of them have read the Lead-portal regarding this event or not so many had responded.

The Principal hope to interact with us what do we want Radin Mas Pri to be what type of school, shall let parents give some suggestions to improve the current system.

Vision (Work Hard, Play Hard & Make A Mark)

The Principal (Mdm Lee) share this vision where every child in Radin Mas would go through the 9 pillars that support the development of the child. Something like Leadership, Global Singaporean, Character Development etc etc.

Strengthen the MT Values & Intro of Chinese Calligraphy

The Principal would look into strengthen the MT (Chinese values) of the school by having chinese calligraphy etc etc. it seem now many students do not even use MT to reply even when the teachers speak to them in chinese/mamdarin.

Construction Work New School & Single Session

The school would start construction work at the end of last paper of PSLE where there would be an indoor sports hall, library would be relocated at 1st floor, canteen would be revamp like a cafe as the current canteen seem to have very poor ventilation. There would also be amphitheatre where dramas & music performance can be carried out.

Estimate 10-12 classrooms would be constructed & in 2013 would be single session.No more sharing of classroom as for the curretn system.

P1 Streaming

The Principal mentioned there would be streaming after P1. The objectives is to identify studentss with different types of learning ability so as to group them accordingly. Just like in society some would be Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Cooks & Mechanic that perform thier every part in the society. She hope all parents would take it postively on this aspect.

To Be Forgiven Parent

Principal shared with us 2 incidents where 1 of them caused her a serious lost of a capable malay teacher. The Malay Teacher beat 1 of the student. The parent (Can't rememnber Male or Female) threathen the Principal that the teacher need to be fired if not the parent would complain up to MOE & put the teacher name in the paper. The Principal had no choice but to let the teacher resign on his own accord.

On the 2nd incident, 1 of the boy scratch the face of another boy. The boy had already realise his mistake & had apologise to the victim (Another Boy). The male parent is ol to accept that but the female parent insist the Principal to take further action.

End of the day the Principal hope the parent can be a more forgiven parent & not be revengeful type.

Invitation To Join Parent-Link Committee Management

Principal welcome parents if can contribute in a way can sit in the management committee.

Principal (Tour of Duty)

Principal had mentioned that she would either leave RMPS end of 2010 or 2012 depends on MOE discretion. She had bring Rulang Primary to greater heights & also the current Radin Mas the same standard. Guess she was a Principal from a secondary schools. She mentioned thatif somebody taking over her would be the \"Heavy Weight Category\". Don't think the current Principal would be taking over her position.

Last but no least, if have any suggestion can always email to the Principal.

I added it on Page 2, maybe serve as a reference if need to find out from different class teaching style, spelling, tests & others. We change it year by year. This thread is getting longer so I get confused.

Did the principal say they will upgrade the toilet? The toilets are old and :!: .

Changing canteen to cafe? That means higher prices, right? Prices are high now, as it stands.

Actually, it seems to me that the school is trying to build new things. I just hope they can also spend some money to upgrade existing facilities. New facilities are, no doubt, good, but if they do not intend to tear down the existing building, they should at least upgrade the existing facilities.

IMHO, parents today are generally different from the yester-years. In the past, if we were punished by teachers in school, we would be punished by our parents, too, for being naughty (why would the teachers punish us if we were not naughty?). Nowadays, it's a completely different scenario. Hence, I am not surprised with the outcomes of these two cases.

Sounds like the principal is leaving end of this year.
