2017 P1 Registration Exercise for 2018 In-Take

Send your older one to a coed school so that the dragon baby gets in via Phase 1. Like I said earlier, phase 1 will take away more places than usual. If you don't intend to join them, be prepared to be disadvantaged.thank you galaxyraider for your advice.
hubby and myself are debating wheather we should send both kids to same school (older one need to register P1 next year) so that dragon baby gets phase 1 status OR she goes to girl`s school where there is affilation to secondary school. I am thinking of applying PV for her .. but friends of mine told me do not bet on PV due to school being picky and there is no guarantee that school will choose me
is PV application that diffcult to get accepted nowdays?
You can take a quick glance at the dragon year birthrate, competition for places is not a laughing matter. Besides the challenges in enrollment, competition for PV places, especially in popular schools, will also heat up for the dragon year. Unless you are very sure that the school will pick you, I won't bet on PV to give you a headstart in Phase 2B. -
gan eng seng seems to be a safe choice getting in (less than 1km) for the past 5 years. will it be roughly the same for dragon year kids?

Should be the same.
Usually only the hot schools will get hotter, and Gan Eng Seng is not one of them
ALPS, RMPS and ZPS are the popular ones in Bukit Merah area. -
thank you janet88 and floppy.
guess we still cant throw away the benefit of having affiliation after seeing huge cop discount.
have to decide soon for baby dragon as we need to move house soon..
2C next week. hope all the parents registering next week 2C here get kiddos in !!! :rahrah: -

surprised gan eng seng has been 'safe' for the past few years...it is across the road where my sibling lives. I've suggested CHIJ Kellock which is 1-2 km away...citing affiliation as back up. the rest is up to the parents.janet88:

Another way of seeing it:

If your kid is good, she will get in to her choice school anyway.
If she is only meeting the COP, she is probably among the weakest in her cohort in the school. Would having to play catch-up all the time aid her development?

yes floppy. you got a point there⦠ummmm

If your sibling has no sons to worry about, CHIJ Kellock is a good choice.floppy:

Affiliated secondary is back up...but more importantly is the single gender school. The other reason is the happy experience in my former school and the environment.
