tanlengleng,
Have u being accepted by the school and started PV already?
My advise to all parents here who are going for 2B in popular schools, try to apply more schools if u can. If you just apply for 1 school and by the time they get back to u and the answer is negative, you have wasted few months for nothing. The worst is PV for other good schools may have closed by then.
My experience for getting a PV place in a popular school is like applying for jobs. It is not only we parents who are choosing the schools, the schools also choose us - thru' our application forms and interviews.
I targated only 1 school at the beginning (2yrs b4 P1 2B registration) but waited for 2 months and the school was kind enough to send me a lettter saying that I was not selected. From there, I know the competition was going to be tough. In the next 1 month, I tried both calling and also going to other popular schools to apply for PV. Some asked me to wait for their replies but no news after that. Some rejected me on the spot, luckily some accepted me. But those accepted me did not reply all at the same time. So I started PV in 1 school for ~10hrs b4 another better school (to me) called and said they accepted me. After that another school called and accepted me as well. At one time we PV for 3 schools for a while (~10hrs each) and then decided on which school we think is best suit our child and also stand the best chance in 2B based on past years result. From my experience, the best way to know a school better is thru' PV rather than hearsay.
As PV, the school expect some commitments from us like we can't reject them for more than 3 times when they need us and they expect us to contribute more than 40hrs. -
J2mum & KSP,
I don't know where to start.
Thinking of GongShan,
but hubby says ChongZheng or Yumin will do...
He says Yumin no need to do PV... :stupid:
I'm quite lost leh... -
Yeah agree with KSP… I applied for 4 schools at one go and luckily got accepted by one. Do apply for more schools as stand-by. Noticed that a lot of parents just apply for one school and then all hopes are dashed when they got rejected.
Lengleng, it’s best to get ur husb’s support in selecting schools and doing pv work. No point u do alone urself then end of the day ur husb decided thats not the school he wants for ur child. -
tanlengleng,
Here are 2008 P1 2B stats (PV/2B vacancies)
Chongzheng 5/33
Gongshang 45/64
Yumin 0/58
Clearly if u are PV for Chongzheng and Gongshang, u sure to get a place there.
Here are 2008 P1 2C stats (applicants/2C vacancies)
Chongzheng 123/60* need balloting
Gongshang 126/84* need balloting
Yumin 63/118
U are right, u don’t need to PV for Yumin.
U need to start calling Chongzheng and Gongshang to find out how to apply for PV. Your time may be running out. -
