Can I ask if P1 and 2 children actually sit down in classroom to do worksheets? Or totally none of that in the early years? Also is there homework at that age? The play approach sounds great but my concern would it be culture shock in P5 when the work and traditional learning kicks in and isn’t it too late by then?

              Dear Bizzybee,

              Thank you for your queries.

Right from P1, students are already exposed to rigorous pen and paper type of assignments everyday in school. At each level, students are given a fair number of worksheets to work on as reinforcement to our PLAY (Purposeful Learning Activities for the Young) approach of learning.

Rigor of such worksheets will increase at each level and files of worksheets are returned regularly to parents to take a look at written work done by students. Worksheets are structured to prepare and familiarise students for PSLE.

We've a homework policy in place to ensure that students have a fair amount of homework but at same time to have time for other recreational pursuits which are important for a child's development.

Our pioneer batch of students had done us proud by performing very well at the recent International Maths Olympiad. Rest assured, students will be very well prepared for their PSLE.

Thank you for the prompt answer. Sounds great! So if my kid starts P1 in 2017, your oldest kids will be in P4 right?

Can I check when is the next open house so we can learn more about the school and see the school facilities?

                      Dear bizzybee…

Hope 2 see u @ west spring soon! May be you can call up the school and check about open hse ? But honestly,if you take your time to read all the information on their website, you’ll already have a very good idea of the school.I was told that a number of university lecturers, poly lecturers, heads of depts in sch & teachers send their children to West Spring.I myself am a secondary sch teacher & it was also through my colleague where i got to know about West Spring . Now, I just do my part and tell others who want to know about this school as I too was in a dilemma last year.I am so glad right decision was made."

                        Dear Bizzybee,

We've been having Open House since 2013 but will not be having any more Open House next year onwards as all information about our school is encapsulated in our corporate video which has been already uploaded on our school website; http://www.westspringpri.moe.edu.sg/our-school-corporate-video/ and all other information about our school may be found on our website; http://www.westspringpri.moe.edu.sg/ which we update very regularly.

Thus far, potential parents have found these to have been sufficient in helping them to make a decision on choice of school. Since 2013, West Spring has been most popular school each year in Bukit Panjang area at Phase 2C. :rahrah: :imcool: :boogie:
