janice_0950:
Was told I need to register by June this year for PV for our girl P1 in 2011,Register in this year 2009.
Primary @ year 2010.
I am staying in st.71.... so very very near to Poi Ching Prim.
tanlengleng, how abt yours?
its same as mine?
which school u'are intent to go for it?
I think it may be too late for you to register already.
I'm thinking of GongShan,
hubby's thinking of ChongZheng or better still Yumin,
cause Yumin no need PV... :stupid: -
Luanee:
Thanks for your advise,Yeah agree with KSP... I applied for 4 schools at one go and luckily got accepted by one. Do apply for more schools as stand-by. Noticed that a lot of parents just apply for one school and then all hopes are dashed when they got rejected.
Lengleng, it's best to get ur husb's support in selecting schools and doing pv work. No point u do alone urself then end of the day ur husb decided thats not the school he wants for ur child.
he's leaving the final decision to me...

KSP:
Cool, thank for your inputs.tanlengleng,
Here are 2008 P1 2B stats (PV/2B vacancies)
Chongzheng 5/33
Gongshang 45/64
Yumin 0/58
Clearly if u are PV for Chongzheng and Gongshang, u sure to get a place there.
Here are 2008 P1 2C stats (applicants/2C vacancies)
Chongzheng 123/60* need balloting
Gongshang 126/84* need balloting
Yumin 63/118
U are right, u don't need to PV for Yumin.
U need to start calling Chongzheng and Gongshang to find out how to apply for PV. Your time may be running out.
Do u have to link to check their pass years PSLE Results?
TIA.

tanlengleng,
I guess you have to check the moe website for individual school PSLE results.

janice_0950,
I think u are a bit late for PV for 2009 P1 registration. -
I just noticed this is the thread that has the most number of parents banging their head here...
I will add mine and join you guys... :stupid: while waiting desperately for any update or notification from schools. -
Thank you for u mommies … ttanlenglent & KSP…
Yes. I am too late to apply Parents Volunteer.
KSP,
oh…ur child alrdy in Primary 1.
@ Which school?
You’re staying in Tampines? -
I would advise parents going for 2B to "spread your risk" - that is apply for more than one school. Don’t put all hopes on one school. One must always prepare for "what if".
As I mentioned earlier on - "It is not only we parents who are choosing the schools, the schools also choose us - thru’ our application forms and interviews. "
I feel that parents should apply PV at more schools because there maybe only a few would accept you. This is due to the PV intake requirements (skiilset needed) vary from different schools. After you have a list of school accepted you, then it is your chance to choose them. -

You're staying in Tampines?[/quote]No, i'm not staying in the east. The school is in the central. -
Maybe this has been mentioned earlier....just to highlight, better to choose a school within 1 km even if you are doing PV.
Because, PV with 1km, your chances are 'almost' as good as guaranteed.
Except for a few ultra super incredibily popular schools, may need to ballot within 1km for phrase 2B
As for me, I only applied for PV in one school. I started calling the principal when my girl was 3+yo (kiasu parent  )
Alternatively, join grassroot. Also phrase 2B
