Yes, it's awesome indeed, janet88. I've was not in favour of its use in the first place aniwaes. Having the school implement similar condition greatly accelerated the initiative on less dependency for students who cannot live without it, in time for PSLE.

Same for me too. We cancel neatly with ruler.

Some Math and language teachers have affirmed that it's better to cancel so they can see the mistakes. They are there to reflect your ideas (for English) and train of thought that they could go back to and for math, good for checking purposes after correction.

Besides its not just PSLE. For O levels it's a straight no on use of correction tape. The earlier the children get off the habit to use it, the lesser the struggle.

Different strokes for different folks.

We chose not to use it at all and I don't buy them at all either. Best decision for us. My children have no withdrawals, are more careful and have been conscientious with having neat work for their written activities.

Same for us. My kids have never used correction tape. One is neat, the other (despite nagging) is untidy. The teachers can cope with it.

Same here, I told my dc to use it sparingly, maybe only when there is limited space to write. More like a comfort food. I hope tts ok.

It is ok because the rule was discouraged, not exactly a flat no from the examination board. It's a personal choice really.:D

I like correction tape. It makes correction neater than cancellation. So my boys used them for school work and major exams like PSLE and A level. \"Use at own risk\"


Of course it is best not to make mistake when answering questions. Cancellation with ruler is also fine as long as it doesn't make it messy and confusing. But I won't worry too much about the use of correction tape.

Which is why I shared that until the directives given from the board is a direct no, using correction tape is ultimately a personal choice.

I must be the odd one out. I don't find it necessarily neater using correction tape. I suppose different children, different neatness level even when it comes to using the tape. No two are alike. I've seen multiple corrections over supposedly corrected ones and there are many curry puff lines on the assignment. Really no eye see. :faint:

But yes, let's not worry about the use of it at this juncture.
If need to use, just use.

I look at the rate my students (especially the primary ones) use their correction tape and I am truly appalled.

I feel that it erodes their thought and care when they write, as they know they can conveniently slide it over with that white tape. It makes them not think (as much) before they write.
Plus, it is such a waste of money and earth’s resources.
I really feel the MOE/schools should just ban it.
Just a neat cancellation with a pen can do the same job.
