Anybody heard of changes in a level for 2017 onwards?

Yes, applies to this year's Sec 4 batch onwards. Difference in syllabus between H1 and H2 subjects.

So this will apply to 2016 JC1 students?

Any idea if it will be easier or more difficult?
Yes, those sec or year 4 this year will be \"affected\".
There will be new components in F Maths, unlike our time.
Also, if one takes H2 FM, he has to take H2 Maths. There is no H1 FM.

Exactly.
My dd hates MA and thus FM is definitely out of qn
I thought the PW would be removed but it remained solid and firm.

PW is still there? Bummer.

So how FM fit into the requirements of having 1 contrasting subject in the 4 core subjects? Will students who take FM be able to take only one more science, given that Math is compulsory?

Yes, PW remains.
If one takes MA, FM, Sc (CM or PH or BI), then the contrasting subject would be GEO or EC or other Arts/Humanities subject, depending on what the sch offers.

How does the CL or HCL play a role in the U admission?

The sch mentioned the U admission ranking is based on 3H2 + 3H1 (ie GP, PW and the least grade of H2 subject or just the grade of the H1 subject).

My daughter is affected too. She has definitely decided against FM because she says she doesn't want to narrow her subject choices. She is already complaining about having to choose only 4! Taking FM will mean only 1 science, and she can't even decide which 2 to keep at the moment (actually the choice is Bio/Phy a she will definitely keep Chem).

For those not keen in FM, it is status quo though.

Thanks starlight. I wonder how that plays into uni admissions as the students will only be doing 1 science.
