congrats to all who are successful.

I am contemplating if I should apply for my gal next year so would appreciate advice regarding Dance:
      1. For those successful in dsa, do you join external competitions (solo or group) and win awards?

My dd didn't do any competition before submitting her application but will be competing next week as a group.

      2. Are you also in dance cca in school or in syf?

No she doesn't have any cca in school.

      3. Are you also expected to be showing min 80% in school results for P5 and P6?

      I supposed so.

Hmmm. my child has a good performance portfolio, won awards, and had a good leadership portfolio. He has average grades. Not sure if they are looking for students with high scores. I guess I'll know tomorrow whether he made it. He thinks he did well in the auditions and interviews. Fingers crossed. :xedfingers:
All the best.

Hey, if you got the call it may mean a scholarship, but there is definitely still a chance for you to get CO even if you didn't get the call. Letters were sent out last Friday so they should arrive tomorrow! And also, regarding an earlier post, grades actually are important. They're unlikely to accept you if you're failing your subjects. While Sota is an arts school, they also place an importance on academics. It's actually 70% acads and 30% art form. They also stream you into your year 1 classes based on your PSLE result. And for those who applied through dance, flexibility is a bonus, but I have friends who only got their splits this year. Technique is also important, but so is passion and attitude. I think that so long as you display these 2 traits (and more of course), they may accept you as your technique doesn't have to be of amazing standard (I certainly wasn't at my TA last year. Messed up quite a bit to be honest whoops), but so long as you're willing to learn and work hard you can improve by a long shot. Sota has been an amazing journey so far and I've improved so much and I'm more aware of my body. Good luck to those still waiting (I know the wait can be torturous; I checked the mail box everyday starting from mid-Aug last year XD) and congrats to all the successful applicants! Hope to see you in school next year 🙂

My daughter was unsuccessful. We more or less expected it since we didn’t receive the call on Friday.
