      Hi

Baby waking up for night feed is temporary.Once baby is older the frequency of waking up middle of the night will reduce.

Buying grocery employees can buy themselves no need maid bring baby go supermarket buy .There is also limitation in the number of items able to buy and carry home.

        Dear Mummies

I would to hear from you if your family are :

Husband and Wife, a 2 year-old baby and a dog.

what expectation / requirement you will hope to set for your maid?

        - I need maid need to look after bb for 4 nights

I would never get maid to take care of my baby at nite no matter how tired I am.

I was FTWM when my 2 kids were babies n I had a maid. I took care of them at nite all the way until they grow up.

To me, maids are meant to help with household chores n taking care of children in the day but not at nite.

This I agree. I took care of the kids myself. I gave medicines and supplements myself, even now when my eldest is 15 years old. I know of incidents where they did not give supplements for long periods or give wrong dosage.

My maids can cook very simple things. But need to check cos sometimes, the food is not properly closed.

I take care of the child myself from feeding, bathing, changing diapers, playing, teaching, cooking and sleeping together. Helper handles household chores only. I did both for a period of time and I can tell you is real hell. I almost gone mad.

If you set your child and dog as top priority, you'll know what type of helper to look for. The parents here have covered good rules to expect. No hand phones, able to read med labels, keep away from kitchen and balcony...etc.

Employer has to understand it is not possible to keep house spick and span when the helper has to take care of the child day and night alone. However, it is important to keep the floor clean all the time because toddler will pick things from the floor and put into their mouths. It is also important to teach the helper how to store things and keep the dangerous items away from toddler reach.

If the helper is to handle the toddler alone at home, do print out a list of numbers to call during emergency. Teach your helper how to handle if the toddler accidentally touch, ingest or inhale something toxic.

I heard of friends' child who sleeps through the nights since birth but my greatest problem is sleep. Ideally, helper should not have sleep issues. For instance, sleeps like a log and \"can't get back to sleep easily\". Age 2 child although requires less night feedings but they will wail and cry at nights and awoken from nightmares looking for hugs and comforts. If the helper cannot get back to sleep easily, she will be tired the next day. It is okay for short term, if it is a repeating cycle, your helper will definitely not able to stay agile and alert to attend to your child. If the helper sleeps like a log, she can't attend to the child at nights.

Is important to allow nap/rest during the day although experience told me is not quite possible to feel rested. When toddler naps, it is the best time to do light household chores. Even if there is no need to do household chores, it is not easy to sleep as and when the toddler sleeps too. You know, when I complained how sleep deprived I am to take care of the child alone days and nights, my family member will say \"you can sleep when the child sleeps in the afternoon too\". This always set me jumping and clenching my fists, you think I robot with a switch? On and Off as I please? πŸ˜‚

Don't expect the helper to do any activities with the toddler alone when you yourself is unable to. Many times I've heard from friends complain their helpers can't do this and that...etc. They have forgotten helper is handling the toddler alone at home. When the employers are at home, they have husband/wife and helper to help out. πŸ˜‚

I've come across too many parents who hired helpers to look after the kids and elderly yet they can tolerate incompetent and rude helpers. I've seen helpers arguing and fighting with ah gong/ah ma but the employers continued to hire the helpers. I've seen helpers yakking on phones away leaving the toddler unattended, employers complaining helpers feeding wrong food to the child constantly, can't bathe the child safely, child fall down always...etc The employers are aware but they continue to hire the helpers with all types of nonsense excuses such as difficult to train again, difficult to find someone... etc. Regardless if they want to admit or not, they are simply looking for someone to do household chores for them under the disguise of taking care of children/elderly.

With a dog at home, the helper must not dislike or afraid of dog. Helper has to clean away the poop and urine as soon as the dog relief. Make sure the hands are properly clean after that. Helper needs to provide fresh water constantly. Don't expect the helper to walk or bathe the dog if they have no experienced in handling dog. Helper needs to know how to handle dog and toddler when they play together. You don't want the dog accidentally bite the toddler or toddler abusing the dog.

Is really depend on yr family.

R u or anybody at home with helper?
Do you only look for helper able to speak Eng?
              Can you speak bahasa?

Will your young children go to childcare or kindergarden??

When my DD was young, i hv fresh indo helper. Worked for me for 5 yrs +.
She is motherly type. Look older than 29 yrs old.
Do not know eng n even do not dare to use lift.
I trained from basic for 6 mths. Not easy. Later i hv second baby n she helped in day time while i was working. She was v good till the stage people on the street asked me how i trained my helper till my baby was so strong.

After she went back for good, i never able to find a good helper who can worked more than a year. Or a helper who claims she has family end up is divorse n come here look for bf.

I hv indo helper who can play with kids but is like another teenage who throw tantrum. Hv attitude!! Not mature n look for entertainment.

Not easy to look for good helper but there is.

Few months ago i shared that my maid of 4 years went to color her hair. I was deciding whether to send her back then but later on decide to keep her. Recently i saw on her fb that she wore my clothes and took photos and even lie on my bed to take photos. i send her back immediately. cos she was at home alone in the daytime (kids in cc), seems like everyday after we leave the hoouse she will start her photo taking. still deny when we ask her. i was without a maid for 3 weeks then. now my new maid come already. see how long she can last…

Its dangerous to leave maid alone at home whole day.

Why do you need a maid if your kids are in cc?

i need someone to cook dinner for them. during my 3 weeks without maid, i gotta rush home after work to cook for them, then is laundry and washing dishes. nonstop until their bedtime. if really really dun wan maid is still possible but will be tiring for me. i did get part time cleaner to clean my house weekly so i was spared the mopping and cleaning of the house. i will try to see how this new maid goes. if cannot make it maybe will consider maidless.

Why not install a ip camera?
For those honestly want to earn a living, it does not matter for them.

Do u allow yr new helper to have hp whole day plus access to your wifi??

                        Certain monitoring is essential.
