2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies
-
Dear all,
If u change the calculator and e-dictionary, please let the teacher know before exam as teacher need put the sticker on them to make sure those items are allow models.
Kindly just prepare the spare battery at their pencil case to ensure that is enough power during exams. Good luck to all the p6 students to have the wonderful result. Hope moe can give more scholarships to p6 students as this year has SG 50 and pap won the election. -

Thanks a lot.
Hi Divha,
I thought I had posted in different forum. Just to get little bit of relief from any of you....
Would like to share my thought and not sure how to overcome this. Until P6 prelim this year my son got 90 and above for Maths. In prelims, he got only 82. After that, he started to lament, he is not that good enough, not prepared well this and that.
Daily instead of preparing for PSLE, now I'm drilling for his positive attitude, mental strength to face challenge, motivating well enough to face the questions in the final exam.
Really, I find very tough these days and don't know how to boost his will power ??
Hi Divha,
Relax. Prelim is usually more difficult than actual PSLE and those other exam/test during the year. The purpose is to drill the kids for them to be better prepared. My boy did only 70 for his science while usual days he can score easily 80 above. He told me most of his classmates did equally bad during prelim, and his class is the first class in the school.
Like to share a story. My boy has a classmate from China. His mother told him that if he want to stay in Singapore he must score 260 above in his PSLE, otherwise they will return to China for good. This boy has been very hardworking and intelligent, but no CCA, no enrichment classes, no games, no entertainment..........To me this is very abnormal. Guess what. Just before the oral test recently, he fainted due to over stress. Luckily was recovered later in the same day and continue with the oral. And on the day of listening comprehension, he cried. I can't imagin how he manage to go through the PSLE papers this week. He told my son that he got mental block during his maths prelim exam for half an hour, totally blank in his mind. He was later \"wake up\" by the teacher who found that he was still in question 1 after half an hour.
This is really unnecessary stress caused by parents. His mother don't have to threaten him until like this. I'm sure the boy can do much better without the stress. -

just make sure the main calculator is the model accepted as well as the backup. replace batteries and make sure it works...the batteries should be the suitable ones, not too strong as it will spoil the calculator.

Same here. No sticker so far. I thought they will only check the calculator this week. Let me see what my DS say when he comes back this afternoon. -

That's what I remember too. Dd sat for PSLE last year, its home learning for her today and I just checked her calculators and chinese e-dictionaries - No stickers for the calculators, both her chinese e-dictionaries have stickers though.

What if the e-dictionary and calculator suddenly malfunction during the exam?
How?
Both look well-powered though. But can never know
