TheSolver:
Not necessary to add a comma but does no harm.
I am not sure, but it should be fine. Except that in this case, you may have to add a comma between leaking and resulting.Nv-mom:
Hi,
I would like to know whether my answer is correct.
Ans: The tap is leaking resulting in water being wasted
Thanks -
mamasab:
what about \"the leaking tap is resulting in water being wasted?\" correct?
Personally, I think it is fine but I am not sure it will be acceptable to the PSLE examiners. The clause 'The tip is leaking' is the main clause; normally, main clauses are not reducible to noun phrases in S&T. -

“Do you know how far is Yishun from here?” Alice asked Tom.
[/quote]I believe that the word order change is on the subject ‘you’, the auxiliary ’do’ and the main verb ‘know’, but am happy to be corrected if you have an authoritative source.
Yishun is far from here.
Is Yishun far from here?
How far is Yishun from here?
You know how far Yishun is from here.
You do know how far Yishun is from here!

Strange to be asking a question on Eng when PSLE is just over. I guess for some of us P5 parents, PSLE is just down the corner.

I don't think \"wasn't\" is correct.

Ben was barely fiiteen when she won first prize in the competition, _________ he?

because of 'was'.
\"barely\" (like \"scarcely\", rarely\") is a near negative. By inserting \"barely\", the main clause has been negativised. Hence the question tag should be positive \"was\". -
