Nope. Maths 1 is basically shorter questions carrying fewer marks. Maths 2 has fewer but longer questions with more marks per question. Because some easier topics can only come up with so many questions, they are found in Maths 1 only.

Sec4 RI student here.

I assume your son is in P6.

From my Y2 junior, I gather that there is a selection test for MEP. There is both a practical and theory test & a pen and paper assessment.

During the practical test you play your instrument for the teachers for evaluation. The pen and paper assessment follows a format close to a MEP paper but it is much simpler. Your son will need Grade 5 Theory and Grade 7 Practical.

Anybody can update me regarding the RA chemistry at JC1 ? Why the subject combination is economy for compulsory subject for RA chemistry ? Please advise as the paper need submit by 7 Oct. Thanks in advance.

This is NN's DS.

As far as I know, it's not compulsory (it might have changed this year, but I highly doubt it). JC1 RA students have to take either physics, chem, math + 1 contrasting subject or bio, chem, math + 1 contrasting subject (I'm aware that the addition of further math might have added more options). Economics just happens to be the most popular contrasting subject but I'm pretty sure others such as geog or hist will be allowed. I know a person who takes chem RA with geog, but not econs. It's possible that RI could have changed its rules for RA this year, but I don't think so.

Thanks for the reply. My girl is from RGS y4. She has the RA chemistry for the past two years. She intends to apply the RA chemistry at JC. She told me that Economics is compulsory subject for RA Chemistry at JC. I felt that it should be the case as Economics is not the preq subject for any university. The end date for application RA chemistry is 7 Oct 2015. As my girl may study English Literature for the contrast subject. I knew that a lot of students choose to learn Economics subject at JC, but they encounter many difficulties during their study. Hopefully my girl can study the other subject, not Economics.

If your daughter wants to take lit, I'm sure they'll make provisions. All the best for her application!
