Hotel Booking Websites
-
Hi all,
In you own opinion, which website offers the best hotel rate? -
I go to http://www.asiatravel.com as a first guide. And then, go to individual hotel sites, plus other travel sites to see.
You will be surprised, many a time, the hotel sites offer the best pricing. -
oh oh...and I like to go http://www.tripadvisor.com to look out for pp's opinions on the hotel first. Will take those advice with a pinch of salt - but better something known than total unknowns (esp travelling with 2 kids in tow).

I find http://www.wego.com a good search engine as it will compare prices offer from different website

I use http://www.wotif.com
hope i got it right ... -
For Asian countries i go here first :- http://www.asiawebdirect.com/index.htm
prior to checking the individual shortlisted hotels.

wotif will include credit card promotion if any and for some of the dates & hotels, they will have special low rate or free extras. These are great bargains. Else the price would be pretty standard.
Do check the commission / admin fee and cancellation charges when booking via website. -

For China, I usually find the comments in Tripadvisor, check the rates in asiatravel or wotif. But the best rate is from China website. You need to search by the hotel Chinese name in Cginese characters and it usually throws out some China hotel booking website. Make some comparison. These will have rates quoted in Reminbi and it is cheaper than rates quoted in the foreign currency as it caters to the mainland tourist within the country.
