Does it mean cohort average GPA trends downward from Y1 to Y4? Looking at my DD Y1 End of Year report, almost all the subjects cohort median score range from 70 to 79, which mean grade point of 3.6. So I suppose the Y1 median GPA is around 3.6.
No, it should trend upward. In Years 3/4, the students get to select their subject combination and presumably you would select subjects you are stronger in, unlike in Years 1/2 where almost all subjects are taken into consideration for your GPA. -

Haha! I like the part you mentioned languages are 'beyond their control' which is true to a large extent. -

Must be a strong class. I think my daughter (Yr 4) told me that her class average was under 3.0!slmkhoo:

Yes, the 3.6 was referring to giftedgem's class. So your under 3.0 average GPA is for your dd's Year 4 class? That is on the low side. That would mean some of the students not being able to pursue 4H2 subjects in Years 5/6?
That was GG's daughter's class. I think my daughter's Yr4 class average was quite a bit under 3.0. But now I try to recall more, I think she said her class was the lowest, or on of the lowest, of all the classes in Yr4? She wasn't in school in Yr1. I remember being told the stats during briefings. They're not released as printed stats but in briefings to the students and parents, to give them an idea of trends and where they're headed. -
Usually RA class GPA average is quite high, it could be more than 3.6. And also because the formula of GPA, core 5 subjects + 2 best subjects, it can avoid the lowest GPA to be calculated. My girl is at RA class, her GPA is more than 3.6 and she still consider that she is not good as her classmate majority are 4.0. Their GPA could be more than 3.9. I can not believe it as I always think if u get nearly 3.6, that is very good GPA as it comes from Rgs.

That's true. For RA classes, scoring overall 3.6 finds you at the lower end of the class, whereas 3.6 would probably have you at the higher end of other classes. It's a little intimidating to be in a RA class where everyone seems to score nothing but 4.0 for individual subjects with an occasional 3.6. -
