      Super Alice:
I just want to know how is the learning environment in DHS. I do understand there are many teachers left DHS for JC. Can any current DHS student advise us? DHS students usually stay in school long hours due to CCA.

Can share as my DS trying to check detail before submitting the S1 posting for Sec 1 next year?
      U are referring to teachers of yr5 / yr6 ?? Current or past ?
      Can i know how many is \" many\" ?
Not sure of other subj teachers...what i know based on my gal's subj combination...there was a very good Econs Teacher who had returned to her hometown...
Another Bio teacher, heard that she quitted ...after on maternity leave ?? something liddat...

Most IP ( even non Ip) students stay bk in sec sch for long hrs...
CCA hrs would very much depend on which CCA one is in...demanding CCA like CO, def need to stay back for long hrs...

Is your DS eligible for other IP school with a JC? Personally, I prefer I would prefer my kid to be in a real JC with infusion of sister school and O level student from JC level. In DHS/RV, you are stuck with the same people for 6 years....more interesting and vibrant college life although all are working towards A level...just my opinion.

U wont be stuck with the same pple for 6 yrs....
Becos u will be in different class with diff classmates n subj teachers in Yr 3 n in Yr 5.... πŸ˜‰

Well...think it all depends whether u like the sch or not...
As for my gal...as well as her peers...
She said tt she is sad... that she has to leave DHS after spending 6 solid yrs here...
DHS is kinda like their 2nd home, afterall they spent so many hrs in sch ...

When chat with some ex- dunmanian frens... They told me that they were so envy of their juniors who could spend another 2 yrs here ...( after IP was implemented)...

I can't help but find this a strange comment. Aren't all Primary School kids stuck with the same people for 6 years? So what is wrong with doing the same for IP school?

haha... one is stuck with the same spouse ... πŸ˜‚
I guess the students would be posted to diff classes to get to know more students, depending on the subject combi fr sec 3 onwards.
In addition, thru cca and other activities, getting to know more pple is never an issue at all.

Wah.....stuck (is it a correct way to say) with the same spouse different lah....what I meant is that in a JC, the student population is abt 1200 vs 400 for IP school...more people so more lively and interesting...but no doubt DHS is a very good school academically...

Can’t help but chip in. Recently a friend just commented that with P2 and P4 streaming in primary school, she want her child to be stuck with the same classmates throughout 6 primary school years also cannot, unlike during our time whereby we are in the same class for 6 solid years and we can easily still pick up from where we left off even though we have not seen each other after PSLE!

So I guess different strokes for different folks, some are happily stuck with the same friends for 6 years or even longer, whereas some prefer a wide variety of friends.

                      Hi,

May I know the average class size for the IP program?

also what’s the usual total intake size for Sec 1? 400?

                      Thanks in advance.

                      Cheers

My DS can go in IP school. Just deciding whether to go for JC that offer IP or DHS. I find that learning environment is very important.
