Does anyone knows what the COP this year, my DS got 256+2, any change to go IP route?


From all source of information, think all SAP schools have high COP, feeling nervy/stress…

thanks. According to the criteria he doesn't qualify But I understand some SAP schools will still encourage the students to try for it. Am hoping CHS is one of them. Will check our more at the open house this Sat. thanks

Hi CHS parents, my son is keen to join CHS IP. Pls share feedback and experiences about the IP program;

1. How many subjects (graded) do they take in Yr 1 (core excluding electives)? What are they?
2. Are the subjects well covered in school or is tuition necessary for child to cope? My elder son is in another IP school and some subject trs don’t teach sufficiently so I’m worried.
3. How are the IP teachers? I hear that CHS teachers from ‘O’ lvl track are very caring and nurturing? Are IP teachers similar?
4. Is the environment very competitive and individualistic? Again I hear some IP schools have such reputation.
5. Is the school more geared to Asian values or ang-mo pai?
6. What is the literature book title used in Yr 1 last year?
7. How’s the HMT standard? My son took HCL in P6 but would it be a huge jump in difficulty level or still manageable.
8. Any other feedback that is useful about CHS IP?

Thanks so much for your feedback as it’s a 6 yrs journey and I want him to make the right choice.

1. The usual subjects, with world readiness program and social studies. Note passing grade is B
2. No tuition for my ds
3. O level and ip teachers cross teach across level. Chs have little distinction between o and ip
4. Environment is laid back and not that competitive. Do note its a small school and everyone knows everyone
5. Asian and holistic
6. No idea
7. Be prepared for your ds to spend a lot of time on ccca. School emphasize a lot on cca excellence
7. Hmt should be able to cope. Do note chs ip only take hmt at o level.

Just to clarify, the 3 sciences are taught as 3 subjects for the entire year or 1 per term? My elder son’s school teaches 1 per term. So EOY exam covers all 3 subjects in 1 paper.

No the 3 sciences are taught on modular basis. Tested only on he science that was taught per semester

1. Are the students more rigorous drill academic to prepare for O level or they also need to actively participated in CCA. What is the passing rate for promotion to next level like L1R5. Is there any minimum score as I seem to read in the previous posts stated 60.

2. In addition, I noted that the students have the choice to choose the subjects they want to take in Sec 3 or I have misunderstood.

3. Do the school sent students for Math Olympiad Competition. Is the student need to go through selection.

1. O level track are more vigorous compared to ip because the end point are different. However the participation rate in cca are similar, there is no distinction between the 2 tracks. To set expectations, dont expect the academic pressure to be similar to other sec schools... Chs are more laid back in nature

2. Sec 3 streaming is by merit... Thats means as long as the student qualify, he can take that subject
