How many triple Sci classes are there in Sec 3?


After obtaining IB, will there be any disadvantage for admission to Medicine field as compared to a student with A level?

About half of the current 2015 Sec 3 classes are triple science based on the timetable

There should not be any disadvantage for applicants to medicine using IB as compared to A Levels. Right now no one does triple science in A levels anymore.

To be granted interviews for Medicine, you will probably need close to perfect if not perfect scores for A levels (AAA/A for NUS) while this is not so for IB applicants (39/40 for Oxford/Cambridge).

Reality about sport CCA is that you must be extremely good at that sport you are interested in (e.g. represent school) otherwise chances of getting into it is very slim. Many who are average or perhaps slightly above average may not get into the sport CCA. You have to be very careful in allocating your CCA choices. Some UG are equally competitive and hence if placed too low in your options, may result in not getting into that UG. No offence to those who truly interested in UG but yes most will end up in UG.[/quote]

Are you saying that majority would end up in UG which is a CCA dumping ground? Getting into a Sports CCA is extremely of low chance?

Thanks very much for the information, I managed to grab maybe 50%. From the slides given, I saw Language A (Chinese) & Language B (Mandarin). Chinese & Mandarin are they the same item?

May I know does SJI rank the students according of their T score to form the classes? Eg 270 & above (1 Class), 260 & above (1 Class),, 250 & above (1 Class), Below 250 etc


Lastly if to request to take HMT, the child would need to stay back in sch for how many times a week?

The classes are of mixed ability. Around 4 IP classes and 8 Express classes.

HMT is taught during the usual MTL periods, do not need to stay back.

Secondary School HMT is different from Primary School, students do either HMT or the Express MT. Hence all the lessons are considered HMT if the students is taking HMT. The student just need to take one subject, either HMT or MT. Hope this clarifies.
