Anglican High School

Hi Bluek, thanks for the sharing, really appreciate it. My impression of AHS has been good, the school staff was particularly helpful. She tried her best to address my queries regarding HMTL and CCA. DS met last years’s COP, fingers crossed COP this year doesn’t move up too much.

Though this school is supposed to be SAP, i keep feeling the Chinese teachers are very unwilling to teach properly.
DD is in Sec 3 doing Higher Chinese. Every year without fail, the Chinese teacher will tell me DD should do express Chinese and not higher chinese. I agree DD is not strong in the subject, but don’t the teachers have a job to do, to teach the students properly? Aren’t they supposed to encourage the students to love the subject and not complain to us that our kids are hard to teach? If DD is already outstanding, then what do we need the teachers for?
Really disappointing. I actually sent DD to this school because all students can do higher chinese. But it is a disguise.
Worse thing is, the teachers have the support of HOD to call us year after year to drop Higher Chinese. They have two HOD in case you don’t know.
DD will be sec 4 next year. I insist she keeps higher chinese because it is more useful for JC. Doing express chinese is not useful. -

We are considering AHS and would really appreciate if any parents can share your opinion on AHS culture. Since it's a SAP school, I am a little concerned whether my DS who comes from an English speaking home would fit. He got A for CL but did not do HMTL. His other consideration is TKSS which is a big step down versus AHS from COP stand point. Thanks!
My DS also did not take HMT in Pri sch. He has an A for PSLE Chinese. He was offered HMT in AHS, so we give it a try. Till now, he finished his Sec3, he is still taking HMT. For AHS, if student cannot handle HMT, the Chinese teacher will advise the child to drop the subject. So there is no harm to try in Sec1

Yes, if you really like AHS, appeal in, even if you are allocated your 2nd choice school. You don't try, you won't knowHi all,
My son's PSLE result is 237, & AHS cut off point based on last year's intake is 239.
Is it worth trying to put AHS as his first choice? Is it risky, & how would appeal procedure be like?
For those who appealed n was accepted, what was the point difference with the cut off point?
Any input, thoughts or advice is much appreciated ^^
Thanks,
Then only thing is appeal case result usually out quite late, like 27th /28th Dec. -

Hi, my DS is also in Sec 3, same as your DD. I have the same experience as you. During the PTM, the chinese teacher would explain why she want my DS to drop HMT but we say try for O lvl and see how. So if Jan, the results is B3 and below, most probably have to drop HMT, then retake Chinese O lvl in June. Keep fingers cross :xedfingers: that he at least can get an A2, then no need to drop HMTThough this school is supposed to be SAP, i keep feeling the Chinese teachers are very unwilling to teach properly.

If DD gets worse than B3, I will still insist her take Higher Chinese. The teachers or even HOD cannot force us to drop. Believe me, it is much better to do Higher Chinese because it is more useful.

Anybody can help me?
If I do not have CCA in primary school, in SEC SCH,
Can I just choose example NETBALL and join it? Or I need like try out?
I'm really scared as I really wanna join Netball (or band&badminton)
Btw, my new school is Anglican high :?: -
Student2015:
Just go and try for the audition when school starts! If you have enough stamina and are able to throw any ball properly, I'm pretty sure that they'll accept you!!Anybody can help me?

Hi all.

1. will Malay lang lessons be conducted in sch?
Yes, for sec 1 and 2s, one lesson per week.
2. what are the dismissal timings like?
For lower sec, students are released at either 1.30 or 2.05
3. by taking public transport, is it nearer to walk to sch from mrt station or from simpang bedok ?
I think it's better to walk from MRT bc everyone walks there, but the distance is the same. Your choice
4. how much pocket money should I give my child?
Erm, it depends on you haha, but generally $2-3 is enough for a meal, drinks not included.
5. school shoes in white or other colours possible?
70% white for lower sec, 50% for upper haha
thanks
